Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- A valid State of Wisconsin driver's license and a clean driving record with no more than one moving violation in the past three years.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily rounds and preventive maintenance on equipment throughout the facility.
- Perform basic maintenance and repairs on major heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, plumbing systems, emergency generators, and fire protection systems.
- Identify and calibrate computer-based digital control systems.
- Support the department and facilities with on-call reliability, security response, and 24/7 emergency coverage.
- Assist in operating high- and low-pressure steam boilers, including piping, valves, pumps, gas trains, and backup fuel systems.
- Assist in operating and maintaining heating hot water and domestic hot water boilers, the computerized energy management system, fire protection systems, emergency generators, major air handling systems, direct expansion and chilled water cooling systems, medical and control air compressors and air dryers, main and backup vacuum systems, and plumbing systems.
- Troubleshoot electrical motors, contactors, relays, overloads, and fuses.
- Move furniture, desks, files, and tables.
- Paint walls, doors, and trim.
- Hang doors and mount door closers.
- Handle disposal of hazardous waste and materials being recycled.
- Provide security for persons and hospital property.
- Respond to disaster or crisis situations.
- Operate snow removal equipment.
- Repair hospital equipment such as wheelchairs and beds.
- Comply with applicable codes.
- Conduct regular fire drills.
Desired Qualifications
- Two years of technical or trade school.
- General maintenance experience, preferably in a hospital setting.
- Journeyman-level certification or verified equivalent experience in building trades.
