Requirements
  • Master's degree in applicable human services field, social work, public health, public administration, management or business required
  • Minimum of 4 years experience in hospital management required with at least four years’ experience in direct grants management
  • Strong leadership and management skills, including critical thinking in high stress situations

  • Ability to work effectively with other Center staff, Board members, and affiliated organizations
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate in writing, using advanced writing skills is required
  • Demonstrated ability to provide correct and understandable fiscal reports relating to grants management
  • Training and/or experience in project management and/or experience in community health practice preferred
Responsibilities
  • Plan, implement, administer, coordinate, monitor and evaluate the specific activities of all assigned financial and administrative functions
  • Develop and modify policies/procedures/systems in accordance with organizational needs and objectives, as well as government regulations
  • Manage grant projects according to the grant’s requirements
  • Provide hospital-wide management of grant-related processes
  • Coordinate and carry out specialized grants management functions including preparing and submitting budget modifications, tracking spending to date and preparing reports on over/underspending, preparing budgets, compile necessary materials, ensure compliance with all requirements, communicating with federal, state, and local/foundation grants officials regarding questions or problems
  • Also, develop or assist in the development of contracts to support grant-related activities
  • Monitor subgrantee and contractor reporting and, when applicable, issue payments; verify quarterly financial reports, prepare summary spreadsheets, authorize payments, verify issuance of checks; initiate the draw of federal funds
  • Working with institutional accountants, maintain accurate records of grant expenditures and projections of expenses in order to inform Finance of issues relating to cash flow
  • In conjunction with the AVP, works with contractors to manage the NYS Certificate of Need applications and other required state documents to support grants management functions
  • Manages the hospital MWBE obligations under the various grant programs
  • Manage a variety of grant-related portals including those of NY State Department of Health, NY State Grants Gateway, NY City PassPort, VendRep, and others as necessary
  • Coordinates with the finance department and hospital personnel in preparing for grant related state and federal audits
  • After thorough review and with written permission of the AVP and/or the CFO/CEO sign off on vouchers for grant reimbursement
  • Research information for institutional grant proposals
  • Identify subject matter experts and coordinate subject matter contributions for proposal development and implementation
  • Assist grant recipients within the hospital by providing technical assistance to assure that vouchers and reports are completed and submitted on time
  • In conjunction with the AVP, assure that outstanding grant deliverables do not exceed a limit jointly set with the CEO and/or CFO
  • Meets funder reporting schedules and requirements
  • Maintains files to support grant compliance including assuring that all required reports (narrative and fiscal) are submitted completely and on-time
  • Demonstrate a commitment to use of the grant making process to support health equity and community involvement throughout the hospital system to enhance health outcomes for all area residents
  • Support community involvement in the hospital’s grant making process
  • Supervises the Grants Manager and Accountant – HOPE Center positions to assure smooth and efficient program operations

St. John's Riverside Hospital St. John's Riverside Hospital, a leading community-based healthcare provider in Yonkers, New York, recently experienced a data breach that potentially exposed personally identifiable information (PII) and protected health information (PHI) of at least 2,238 individuals across the U.S. According to a disclosure filed with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on Nov. 14, 2025, the breach originated from unauthorized access to a limited number of employee email accounts. The incident was discovered in September 2025, when the hospital detected suspicious activity involving the distribution of phishing emails and an attempt to reroute payment funds. The compromised email accounts contained a range of sensitive information. For some individuals, the exposed data included personally identifiable information (PII) such as name, date of birth, Social Security number, driver's license or state identification number and financial account number. For others, protected health information (PHI) was involved, including health insurance details, medical condition information, treatment provider name, medical record number, treatment cost information and diagnosis or treatment information. St. John's Riverside Hospital's response. Upon discovering the breach, St. John's Riverside Hospital immediately took steps to secure its systems. The hospital changed passwords, revoked session tokens, reset multifactor authentication and engaged data security and privacy professionals to investigate the incident. The unauthorized activity was contained and remediated, and the hospital conducted a thorough analysis to identify affected individuals.
