Job Description
Position Title: Auditor/Evaluator

Overview:
The Legislative Office of Fiscal Transparency (LOFT) is a State agency in the legislative branch that assists the Oklahoma House and Senate by providing information essential to policymaking. LOFT is charged with ensuring State-funded programs are efficient, effective, and transparent. LOFT conducts multi-faceted evaluations of public expenditures and provides comprehensive, non-partisan, and objective analysis to the Oklahoma State Legislature.
An Auditor/Evaluator is an independent, unbiased examiner and evaluator of programs, functions, or operations of a government entity. A successful employee in this role possesses the competencies to learn quickly, be open to change, pay attention to detail, ensure accuracy, think critically and problem solve, apply logic, and produce high-quality results. Candidates should also possess the ability to deal tactfully with the agencies under evaluation, coworkers, and others. Evaluators must be able to exercise good judgment in assessing situations and making decisions, and to express ideas clearly, concisely, and convincingly.
Auditors/Evaluators will employ various methodologies to gather, evaluate and present the foundational data which improves programs, increases transparency, and promotes accountability. Auditors/Evaluators need to be able to determine risks and identify and evaluate trends. Strong preference for candidates with experience in State government specific to auditing agency expenditures or conducting forensic audits.
Primary Responsibilities:
The role of an Auditor/Evaluator is to objectively determine whether taxpayer expenditures are producing desired results and to recommend improvements to Oklahoma state government. LOFT staff employ a varied range of skills, including fiscal and economic analysis, data analysis, review of processes, compiling observations from field work, conducting interviews, examining legislative intent, reviewing statutes and administrative code, and research. The Auditor/Evaluator will contribute to evaluation projects that are completed by a team and must be able to work collaboratively and meet deadlines, resulting in written reports and in-person presentations.
Skills Required:
- Ability to work both independently and in a team dynamic
- Ability to extrapolate relevance of data and information and possess a high level of qualitative and quantitative analytical skills
- Experience in identifying fact patterns, auditing compliance, or audit testing
- Ability to present data or information in creative and meaningful ways
- Possesses writing and presentation skills necessary to effectively communicate organized ideas and evaluation conclusions
- Ability to be objective, non-partisan, and non-biased in all work
