- Ability to perform extensive sitting with periodic standing and walking, lift up to 20 pounds, use a computer, phone, and office equipment, and handle objects.
- Ability to use standard precautions due to potential exposure to blood and body fluids.
- Continuously observe central cardiac monitor screens.
- Identify cardiac rhythms and alarms, enter information into the electronic medical record, and report findings to the patient’s nurse.
- Set and maintain cardiac monitor alarm settings at the direction of a Registered Nurse.
- Admit, transfer, and discharge patients in the monitoring system.
- Perform routine tasks related to the proper functioning of monitoring equipment.
- Answer phones, transfer calls, relay messages, direct or assist visitors, and contact physician offices as needed.
- Use the electronic medical record to input, retrieve, and cross-check data and run reports.
- Prepare patient charts for transport to another facility when needed.
- Use electronic communication systems including MedStan, InRoster, and Maintenance Connection.
- Use the electronic medical record to manage patient bed, admission, and acuity status.
- Work with the unit team to ensure supplies are ordered and available, cupboards are stocked, work areas are clean and orderly, and halls are clear.
- Assist physicians with the electronic medical record as requested.
- Report observations and safety measures to the Registered Nurse.
- Perform quality assurance monitoring on medical records and unit activities as directed by the manager.
- Perform other assigned duties.
- National Telemetry certification.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Thorough knowledge of medical terminology.
- Six months of experience in cardiac monitoring.
