Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Two to five years of similar or related experience is required.
  • Familiarity with sound analytical and lending procedures.
  • Knowledge of lending compliance guidelines and state and federal regulations.
  • Willingness to follow internal policies and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and interact professionally with members and external contacts.
  • Ability to bend, sit, and stand to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 60 pounds.
  • Ability to climb and descend stairs in an emergency.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment, including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators.
  • Ability to routinely perform computer-based work for an average of six to eight hours per day when necessary.
  • Ability to work extended hours or travel off-site when required or requested by management.
  • Regular, reliable, and timely attendance is required.
  • Ability to comply with company policies and procedures and applicable laws and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
Responsibilities
  • Interview loan applicants and members requesting refinancing or loan modifications and assist with the loan application process.
  • Pull credit reports, verify debts, and estimate monthly payments for outstanding debts not listed on applications.
  • Obtain and evaluate credit bureau reports on applicants.
  • Calculate debt-to-income and debt-service ratios and determine how much applicant debt is secured or unsecured.
  • Ensure that real-estate loans are processed accurately.
  • Communicate with members, realtors, and other parties through in-person appointments, phone calls, email, text, and other communication methods.
  • Provide information about current loan policies and procedures.
  • Communicate reasons for loan denials and explore options for members when loans are denied.
  • Answer member questions about mortgage loans.
  • Develop mortgage loan business through member seminars and calls to realtors, contractors, and other institutions.
  • Resolve complaints from members and nonmembers professionally.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with real estate agents and brokers, attorneys, and contractors to support continued mortgage business.
  • Attend community events when requested and present a favorable image of the organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
