  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field.
  • Demonstrated success in managing complex, multi-stakeholder, community-based projects and teams.
  • Experience coordinating and advancing partnerships across academic institutions, government agencies, and/or non-profit organizations.
  • Strong understanding of and interest in climate resilience concepts, such as nature-based solutions, climate tech and entrepreneurship, resilience finance, climate and health outcomes, disaster planning
  • Exceptional project management skills with ability to envision and track metrics of success.
  • Superior facilitation skills for productive meetings and panels.
  • Grant research and writing experience, particularly with large-scale collaborative proposals.
  • Excellence in written and verbal communications across diverse audiences with ability to translate technical information for non-technical audiences.
  • Experience supporting fundraising efforts and donor engagement strategies.
  • Experience with event planning and execution for conferences and high-profile convenings.
  • Interest and experience in including and mentoring students in all aspects of a work program.
Responsibilities
  • Supports a community of practice and/or other strategic focus area by cultivating relationships within UM and the wider community.
  • Leads and coordinates multi-stakeholder initiatives, projects, and grants, such as the Coastal Infrastructure Regulatory Working Group. Facilitate meetings and maintain project documentation.
  • Identifies and nurtures partnerships with external organizations including governmental agencies, NGOs, and other academic institutions.
  • Creates and tracks project budgets, deliverables, and timelines for grant-funded initiatives.
  • Aligns CRI activities and workflows with UM programs and protocols including collaborations with the UM Center for Urban and Community Design (CUCD).
  • Hires, onboards, and mentors student employees and additional CRI staff.
  • Contributes to visioning, strategic planning, and daily operations of the Institute.
  • Identifies opportunities for funding or collaboration that align with the Institute’s mission.
  • Assists with proposal conception, budgeting, packaging and submission, working with partners to ensure adherence to deadlines.
  • Identifies, develops, and supports interdisciplinary research teams, project teams, and other working groups to fulfil grant requirements, implement projects, and advance CRI priorities.
  • Coordinates data collection, analysis, and reporting for research projects. Data visualization experience is a plus.
  • Contributes to knowledge-building efforts and thought leadership of local and national resilience efforts that align with CRI’s mission.
  • Develops and implements student programming including workshops, talks, internship programs, etc.
  • Create opportunities for students to engage with community resilience projects.
  • Oversees the CRI Student Advisory Council and other student teams.
  • Supports curriculum development for resilience-focused academic offerings, including a training program for Chief Resilience Officers.
  • Supervises and mentors student employees, research assistants, and volunteers.
  • Represent the Institute at conferences, community events, and stakeholder meetings.
  • Develops content for the Institute's digital and print communications, including social media posts, newsletter articles, funding proposals, slide decks, marketing materials, etc.
  • Organizes and executes public events, workshops, brown bags, socials, and other convenings.
  • Supports all aspects of the planning and execution of signature events like the Resilience 365 Conference and Miami Climate Week.
Desired Qualifications
  • Master’s degree preferred and/or experience in related fields such as: public policy, ecosystem science, law, strategic planning, urban planning, community development, real estate, management consulting, higher education.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Data visualization experience is a plus.
