Lab Technician/Chemist Intern

The purpose of the lab technician/chemist internship position is to develop college students that are pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering or a similar field. Interns will be exposed to a variety of projects and activities that occur within the energy business. Interns will have the opportunity to apply knowledge and skills learned in college and demonstrate abilities in the workplace. The position is temporary, nonexempt, part-time/hourly. 

• Must be a college student, sophomore or higher standing, currently enrolled in an associate, bachelor's or master’s degree program in chemistry, chemical engineering, or related field
• Prior utility or energy industry experience helpful but not required
• Solid computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Effective project management skills
• Effective analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and complete projects within tight deadlines
• Employment is contingent upon passing a post-offer background check and drug screen

• Conducts accurate, precise, safe and efficient sampling, sample preparation and analysis of facility liquids, gases and solids
• Provide accurate, precise and timely reporting of results
• Follow strict quality control procedures established through the instrumentation supervisor and adhere to California Environmental Protection Agency and United States Environmental Protection Agency’s analytical procedures
• Perform work with moderate supervision and directions from supervisor
• Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned
