Requirements
  • Hands-on experience managing large, complex commercial litigation involving contract law, the Australian Consumer Law, or the Corporations Act from commencement through trial is essential.
  • Experience in regulatory or intellectual property matters is desirable.
  • Aptitude for mentoring and developing junior lawyers, with the leadership skills to guide them through complex matters while fostering their professional growth and confidence.
  • Confidence with the processes and rules of the New South Wales Courts and the Federal Court.
  • Admission as a lawyer in New South Wales.
  • At least four years of strong experience in commercial disputes and litigation.
  • Ability to manage litigious and pre-litigation matters with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to provide strategic, practical commercial advice aligned with clients’ broader business objectives.
  • Strong client relationship and communication skills, including the ability to build trusted-advisor relationships.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, advocacy, and matter management skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work across diverse industries and adapt quickly to new commercial contexts.
  • A collaborative, flexible, and team-oriented approach.
Responsibilities
  • Manage and direct a varied caseload of litigious and pre-litigation matters from inception through trial or resolution.
  • Build direct, trusted-advisor relationships with clients and provide advice that shapes business decisions and commercial outcomes.
  • Run large, complex commercial litigation.
  • Guide junior lawyers through complex matters, foster their professional growth and confidence, and review their work.
  • Share expertise through articles, webinars, and internal training.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in regulatory or intellectual property matters.
  • Experience in jurisdictions beyond the New South Wales Courts and the Federal Court.
  • Experience acting in proceedings before the New South Wales Civil and Administrative Tribunal or other state equivalent bodies.
