Requirements
  • A current Registered Nurse license from the State Board of Nursing is required, along with demonstrated managerial and administrative ability.
  • At least two years of supervisory experience is required.
  • Skills in organizing and planning programs and assigning personnel to provide nursing services for residents.
  • Ability to evaluate reports, programs, and other data against both judgmental and verifiable criteria.
Responsibilities
  • Assume responsibility for the center in the absence of the Administrator.
  • Implement policies and procedures with follow-up and supervision of staff to ensure compliance, work closely with the Medical Director, Health Department, and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to ensure current standard practices are in place, and recommend policy or procedure changes to the regional office as needed.
  • Assist in preparing the department budget and administer the approved budget.
  • Recruit, select, coach, discipline, and terminate Nursing Department employees; schedule Nursing Department employees; develop efficient work functions; and conduct timely performance evaluations for nursing professionals.
  • Analyze and evaluate nursing and related services to improve resident care quality and better utilize staff time and activities.
  • Ensure positive outcomes for residents; develop systems and work schedules that respect residents' lifestyles and help residents reach their highest attainable level of functioning; make rounds at least daily; and follow up daily on each shift to ensure changes in status are reported and recorded.
