Requirements
  • A high school diploma and one year of related experience are required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team is required.
  • Ability to participate in on-call rotations is required.
Responsibilities
  • Build, maintain, monitor, and audit multiple cloud application installations.
  • Ensure security standards are applied, troubleshoot issues, implement new solutions, and participate in projects to upgrade application components or entire systems.
  • Follow recommended architecture standards related to applications.
  • Serve as a primary contact for Office of Clinical Research managed system-related activities.
  • Work with staff at diverse levels to maintain and improve the functionality and use of managed cloud systems and ensure business strategy drives system use and requirements.
  • Serve as a communications hub to disseminate information to system users, clinical trial team members, central services teams, and senior leadership.
  • Create new user accounts in managed systems and handle issues and requests from the user base.
  • Create data reporting using a Sigma-based cloud application interface and provide Quality Assurance updates to users.
  • Provide technical support for Advarra Cloud non-production and production environments, including troubleshooting, remediation of technical issues, data manipulation, and reporting.
  • Research and answer technical questions about applications, databases, servers, and security configurations.
  • Work with technical and functional personnel to fulfill technical support requests involving applications, system-to-system integrations, and security administration.
  • Monitor production and non-production environments and work with team members and vendor technical support on performance tuning for application, database, server, and security settings and features.
  • Plan, test, and deliver application upgrades for Advarra Cloud environments.
  • Use tools to manage data migrations, environment builds, testing, and implementation efficiently.
  • Apply patches and deliver minor and major application upgrades.
  • Test new features and validate changed functionality before release to the user base, coordinating upgrade scheduling and communications with vendor technical support.
  • Participate in team meetings, brainstorming discussions, application administration maintenance or implementation planning, estimation, and future work-plan planning.
  • Identify improvement opportunities, maintain the team ticket system, and complete assigned work in a timely manner.
  • Share application administration knowledge and provide cross-training and peer support.
  • Update application administration documentation, procedures, and technical documentation for Advarra cloud products and related cloud-based and on-premises systems.
  • Participate in testing newly developed applications, integrations, systems, solutions, and application or support-tool upgrades.
  • Follow application administration best practices and change-management procedures.
  • Participate in systems projects or enhancements and deliver assigned application administration tasks according to project plans and estimates.
  • Develop broad knowledge of assigned application areas and technologies associated with cloud application administration.
  • Participate in external technical application administration communities of practice to gain technical knowledge through vendor channels.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in a related discipline such as Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Statistics, Business, Data Science, or Engineering is preferred.
  • Experience in higher education or healthcare is preferred.
  • Experience with interface, networking, design, and relational database technologies is preferred.
  • Experience supporting cloud and on-premises applications is preferred.
  • Experience with multi-tier applications using application and web servers is preferred.
  • Experience with project management from planning through implementation is preferred.
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly and help team members embrace technology change is preferred.
  • A proven track record of executing multiple work streams and producing consistent results is preferred.
  • A strong understanding of system and application administration activities is preferred.
  • Experience with Oracle, MySQL, or Microsoft SQL databases is preferred.
  • A solid understanding of interactions among web servers, application servers, and databases is preferred.
  • A solid understanding of application infrastructure and architecture is preferred.
