Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration is required.
  • At least two years of general ledger accounting experience with increasing responsibilities is required.
  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles is required.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required for analysis.
  • A high degree of accuracy, accountability, and consistency is required to produce quality work.
  • The ability to multitask and work with changing priorities is required.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and Outlook is required.
  • Excellent written and oral English communication skills are required.
  • The ability to communicate with diverse parties and promote department teamwork is required.
  • The employee must be able to perform constant desk-based computer tasks and meet the stated physical requirements, including occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare and submit loan draw requests in a timely manner.
  • Track project actual costs and funding usage against project budgets and contracted amounts in the Job Cost Module and related application interfaces.
  • Prepare analyses of budget, contract, and actual variances as needed.
  • Perform general ledger analysis for assigned projects, account reconciliations, and monthly close activities, and prepare financial statements.
  • Prepare annual audit schedules and work with external auditors to complete audit and tax returns and ensure timely filing under partnership and other applicable agreements.
  • Collaborate with project managers and other accountants to meet the company's accounting and reporting requirements.
  • Apply the proper accounting treatment under generally accepted accounting principles, with accurate documentation and recording of transactions.
  • Work with external auditors to complete audited financial statements and prepare cost certification audits with support from accounting managers.
  • Read and understand compliance and partnership documents for assigned projects, including regulatory and loan agreements, and apply the associated accounting treatment.
  • Present financial information concisely and answer accounting questions from management and other users as requested.
  • Ensure inter-entity transactions are balanced and analyze and clear variances before financial reporting close.
  • Ensure surplus distributions are calculated correctly and distributed appropriately.
  • Provide ad hoc reporting as requested.
Desired Qualifications
  • Certified Public Accountant credential.
  • Knowledge of Low-Income Housing Tax Credit rules.
  • Experience with job-cost accounting, real estate development, property rehabilitation, or construction accounting.
  • Experience reviewing and ensuring compliance with regulatory, partnership, and loan agreements.
  • Experience using enterprise accounting software and working knowledge of RealPage.
