Job Summary:
The Portfolio Management Pillar at Smartsheet is looking for a technical leader to manage a team of Fullstack Engineers and build experiences that enable Portfolio Managers and End Users to standardize their business processes and manage their Portfolios and Projects at scale. As an Engineering Manager, you will work closely with multiple stakeholders (Product and Engineering) to ideate and deliver critical features in our roadmap, while leading and guiding the team to plan and execute projects and make technical decisions that help deliver value each day.
You will:
- Lead, coach, and inspire a team of 5-8 software engineers to achieve high-quality software
- Empower the team to find elegant, simple, and innovative solutions to challenging problems
- Work closely with our product manager to work out scope, align on product decisions, and chart out roadmap and delivery expectations
- Drive the development and success of one or more products
- Collaborate with partner teams across the company including product management, development, UX design, and customer support teams
- Establish lean engineering processes that promote collaboration and rapid iterations to build the right product to solve the right problems
- Hire and grow your team by promoting career development
- Promote engineering excellence, architectural development, AWS cost optimization, and operational monitoring best practices for highly available services
You have:
- 8+ years of total software engineering experience and 2+ years managing software engineering teams
- 2+ years of experience building highly interactable front ends for SaaS applications
- 2+ years of experience building scalable and performant backend applications
- Deep software development skills in at least one modern programming language such as C#, C++, Python, Java, or JavaScript
- A solid understanding of Fullstack (React, Java) design and architecture to guide the team’s technical decisions
- Experience handling both professional growth and performance management
- Legally eligible to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent practical experience

Smartsheet provides a competitive range of compensation for roles that may be hired in different geographic areas we are licensed to operate our business from. Actual compensation is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, level of professional, educational experience, skills, and specific candidate location. In addition, this role will be eligible for a market competitive bonus and RSU stock grant upon accepted offer. California & New York: $167,400 to $243,000 | All other US States: $155,000 to $225,000.
