  • Flexibility and the ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced work environment
  • Good oral and written English communication skills
  • Self-motivated and able to plan and achieve goals with minimal supervision
  • Current driver's license, and clean driving record required
  • Flexible schedule to include working occasional evenings and weekends
Responsibilities
  • Welcome newly arriving refugee families and individuals
  • Provide community orientation, counsel, and assistance in addressing basic needs
  • Assist refugee clients in accessing appropriate services such as public assistance, education, health care, and employment services
  • Encourage clients to work towards self-sufficiency and early employment in tandem with other staff members
  • Assist caseworkers with documentation and case file maintenance as needed
  • Maintain regular contact with cases, including required home visits
  • Identify and address barriers to successful resettlement as necessary
  • Operate as a cultural broker between volunteers, church groups, service providers, staff, and refugees
  • Other related tasks as assigned
