Requirements
  • Five years of directly related full-time experience, or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a related field and one year of directly related full-time experience.
  • Experience coaching softball at the collegiate, high school, or elite club level, including instruction and skill development.
  • Current American Red Cross CPR/AED certification or the ability to obtain it within three months of employment.
  • Experience operating a personal computer and proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to travel throughout the country.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of softball and the ability to teach and coach collegiate student-athletes.
  • Knowledge of National Collegiate Athletic Association rules and regulations and a strong commitment to compliance.
  • Knowledge of intercollegiate recruiting practices and the ability to identify athletic and academic talent.
  • Knowledge of student-athlete intellectual, emotional, and social development and the ability to guide athletes toward successful completion of an undergraduate degree.
  • Knowledge of and ability to administer first aid and CPR/AED.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, independent judgment, flexibility, and the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to interact professionally with staff, faculty, students, and the community in a service-oriented environment.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing student needs and maintain consistent communication with supervisors and Athletic Department support staff.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion.
  • Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with recruitment and retention of student-athletes.
  • Prepare and conduct practice sessions.
  • Coordinate team travel arrangements and logistics.
  • Teach individual and group game skills and techniques.
  • Assist with game strategy and position assignments.
  • Monitor academic progress and status of team members and implement action plans when needed.
  • Monitor and maintain athlete discipline and conduct to support the athletics program's image and reputation.
  • Promote the athletic program through community events, public speaking, fundraising, and marketing.
  • Comply with University and ASUN Conference regulations and NCAA rules and regulations, including self-reporting possible violations and participating in annual NCAA continuing education programs and certification testing when applicable.
  • Travel throughout the country and internationally as assigned.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Master's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Two years of full-time professional coaching experience at an NCAA Division I institution.
  • Experience coaching collegiate softball with demonstrated expertise in pitching instruction, pitcher development, and bullpen management.
