Requirements
  • Deep ML expertise across at least two of physics-informed models, time-series, reinforcement learning, or agentic systems; and the judgement to choose the right tool not the fanciest
  • Comfortable turning dirty data into reliable training sets through sensor data curation, plant-graph contextualisation, and integration with semi-structured records
  • AI-native by default, leveraging agents, automations, and AI workflows, and are ready to drive that culture as the company scales
  • You can architect and build our platform MVP from the ground up
  • You have deployed ML products in messy, real-world environments
  • You understand commissioning, safety constraints, and human-in-the-loop workflows
  • The ideal candidate will have prior experience working in or alongside process industries, and a hands-on understanding of industrial data stacks (OPC UA / SCADA / MES / ERP / historians), data compliance (GDPR, SOC 2, ISO 27001) and industrial safety frameworks (IEC 61508, ATEX, GxP)
  • Above all, the candidate should have an entrepreneurial mindset and a clear willingness to take ownership in a co-founder role
  • Location: Europe, with a preference for France or Switzerland, with ability to travel to project sites across the region when necessary
  • Examples of relevant backgrounds include Senior Applied AI/ML Engineer or Forward Deployed Engineer, AI/ML Research engineer or scientist, Startup founder/operator

Marble partners with scientists, engineers and operators to build climate-focused deeptech startups that reduce greenhouse gases, remove carbon, and cool the planet. Their main product is a venture studio that scours hard-to-abate climate problems and co-creates startup ventures with founding teams, starting at pre-seed, to bring breakthrough technologies to market. Founders-in-Residence work with Marble to identify high-impact climate opportunities and form companies with large emissions-reduction potential. Marble differentiates itself by actively creating and deploying radical, early-stage deeptech solutions rather than relying on traditional tech transfer, backed by climate and deep-tech investors. The goal is to move the world closer to net zero by delivering at least one gigaton of avoided or removed emissions through the startups they help build.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • CryoBio validates Marble's model in agriculture adaptation and frost protection.[6]
  • Studio thesis spans industrial decarbonization, carbon capture, cooling, and critical minerals.[6][9]
  • Hands-on support spans research, customer interviews, technoeconomics, IP, and fundraising.[8]

What critics are saying

  • Deeptech venture creation requires elite talent; weak founder supply slows new company formation.[1][8]
  • Reverse tech transfer front-loads capital before product-market fit, increasing thesis selection risk.[5][9]
  • Long commercialization cycles and capital intensity can outrun Marble's pre-seed financing.[6][8]

What makes Marble unique

  • Europe's only deeptech climate venture studio focuses on reverse tech transfer.[5]
  • Founders-in-Residence spend 12 months exploring opportunity areas before spinout.[1][4][5]
  • Marble provides €2,500-€3,000 monthly support and €250,000 pre-seed capital.[5][8]
