Job Summary:
The Manager, Core Lab leads clinical laboratory section(s) and/or laboratory support functions within the Diagnostic Laboratories of the Medical Center. Provides direction for the supervisors of the individual laboratories and serves as a key resource to integrate clinical activities and optimize patient care. With the lab leadership team, defines clinical performance standards and quality measures, monitors actual performance and when necessary identifies problems and initiates corrective actions. Manages staff, operating budget and participates in capital budget.
The Manager, Core Lab will have responsibility for MetroCenter Core Lab and TVC Core Lab. This position will report to the director of the Core Lab.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Monitors and coordinates programs and actions within areas of responsibility; has overall fiscal accountability for sections(s).
• Develops work goals and objectives based on interpretation of organization plans and forecasts; plans to achieve goals or establish priorities through appropriate budgeting and program development.
• Monitors payroll reports for overtime and FlexPTO as will as conducts performance appraisals.
• The responsibilities listed are a general overview of the position and additional duties may be assigned.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited institution and 7 years relevant experience
- Medical Laboratory Scientist Certification or Medical Laboratory Technologist Tennessee license. If not licensed, must be eligible to obtain Medical Technologist license in 120 days. If not licensed as a Medical Technologist - Supervisor, must be eligible to obtain Medical Laboratory Supervisor license within 6 months of start date.
- License as a Medical Laboratory Technologist generalist or categorical, or
- Successful completion of CAHEA or NAACLS accredited medical laboratory science program or BS degree from an accredited institution with major in a biological, chemical, physical, or clinical laboratory science, or Equivalent education and experience per CLIA and the Tennessee Medical Laboratory Board for personnel performing high complexity testing, AND ASCP medical laboratory scientist generalist or categorical certification, or equivalent certification. Allowed 120 days to obtain State of Tennessee license. Considered ‘in training’ prior to license approval.
- License as a Medical Laboratory Supervisor generalist or categorical, or if not currently licensed, must have national MLS (ASCP) Certification or categorical equivalent Certification Medical Laboratory Supervisor license in the state of Tennessee or eligibility to obtain Medical Laboratory Supervisor license in the state of Tennessee. Allowed 6 months to obtain State of Tennessee Supervisor license. Considered “in training” prior to license approval.
Preferred:
- Active Medical Laboratory Technologist – Supervisor licensure in the state of Tennessee (TN)
- Experience must be in a CLIA-certified, CAP accredited laboratory.
- Minimum of at least 5 years of leadership experience
