Requirements
  • Hold an MD degree, and must hold or be eligible for, licensure in the province of Quebec
  • Be certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent) or the College of Family Physicians of Canada
  • Hold certification by the Collège des médecins du Québec
  • Possess relevant experience as a clinician and educator
  • Demonstrate superior communication and management skills
  • Have a track record of successful collaborations as well as the ability to maintain positive working relationships
Responsibilities
  • Overseeing the multidisciplinary clinical activities of the unit
  • Ensuring the sustainability of resource allocation to the AEPMU
  • Working closely with the University leadership and the MUHC administration, McGill Integrated University Health, Social Services Network Office (RUISSS), and members of the Ministry of Health and Social Services involved in the chronic pain dossier in the province of Quebec
  • Overseeing the educational program in clinical pain management and the pain management content in the undergraduate medical curriculum
  • Providing pain education across the four years of undergraduate medical education
  • Enhancing the Continuing Medical Education (CME) activities related to chronic pain
  • Collaborate with McGill’s Departments of Family Medicine and Anesthesia to enhance teaching in Pain Medicine within their core residency programs and Enhanced Skills programs
  • Promoting and participating in research activities conducted by clinicians from the AEPMU
  • Leading the recruitment of clinical research fellows
  • Ensuring collaborations with the McGill’s Alan Edwards Centre for Research on Pain (AECRP) and basic pain researchers from McGill
  • Contribute to service activities within their units, the University, and the wider scholarly community; demonstrate commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a major administrative role will be considered an asset
  • Bilingual language skills (French and English) are preferred, or a commitment to acquire the necessary language skills to practice medicine in Quebec
