Requirements
  • A high school diploma, General Educational Development credential, or equivalent working knowledge is required.
  • A current Certified Nursing Assistant license in the state of practice or Emergency Medical Technician-1 national certification or higher is required.
  • A minimum of one year of relevant work experience is required.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required.
  • FHP-sponsored phlebotomy training is required within twelve months of hire or transfer.
  • Preceptor certification is required within six months of hire or transfer.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills are required for interfacing with staff, independent practitioners, patients, and other contacts.
  • The ability to remain attentive to details and adhere to strict safety requirements for handling infectious agents is required.
Responsibilities
  • Perform receptionist and clerical duties to support operating efficiency, communication, and information flow throughout the department.
  • Order supplies and troubleshoot supply issues as needed.
  • Stock and maintain supplies in patient care areas, and troubleshoot and escalate supply chain issues as needed.
  • Clean and disinfect patient care areas and equipment, and manage clinical waste to ensure proper disposal.
  • Perform basic prescribed standard non-invasive cardiovascular procedures according to departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ensure accurate and readable recordings, troubleshoot minor problems using deductive reasoning, adjust as needed during procedures, and prepare recordings for interpretation.
  • Transport or assist with transporting monitored and non-monitored patients within the facility, including patient handling and lifting.
  • Collect and prepare specimens while ensuring correct patient and specimen identification and specimen integrity using appropriate techniques.
  • Aliquot and label specimens according to departmental procedures, deliver specimens to the technical area, and perform initial processing and preparation of samples for transport when required.
  • Transport patient specimens and patients according to guidelines.
  • Recognize and report abnormalities or changes in patients’ health status and responses to treatment to promote continuity of care.
  • Assist the Emergency Technician Educator with orientation and training of staff and students.
  • Participate on assigned committees and teams.
  • Perform additional tasks within the role’s scope or competency.

  • Prior experience or training in non-invasive cardiology procedures.
  • Additional related education or experience.
