Requirements
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Over 5 years of experience in embedded system software development.
  • Strong programming skills in C and C++.
  • Strong understanding of Wi-Fi technologies including 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be.
  • Extensive experience with WPA supplicant, Hostapd, and the Radius protocol.
  • Extensive experience with IP networking and good knowledge of TCP/IP.
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills focused on innovation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities
  • Design and implement Wi-Fi software features and unit tests related to PRPL.
  • Develop and integrate mesh networking features on prplMesh/Easymesh with prplOS and on RDK-B/OpenWRT-based platforms.
  • Develop proof of concepts for new technologies.
  • Research new Wi-Fi technologies.
  • Debug and resolve field issues involving client connectivity, roaming, stability, and interoperability in collaboration with silicon vendors.
Desired Qualifications
  • In-depth understanding of the 802.11 protocol suite and WLAN technology.
  • Experience with Qualcomm, Broadcom, or MaxLinear platforms.
  • Experience with Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 7, including MLO and 802.11be features.
  • Hands-on experience with prplMesh/Easymesh, IEEE 1905.1, and 802.11s mesh networking, including Easymesh R5/R6 certification.
  • Experience with RDK-B, prplOS, and/or OpenWRT gateway software stacks.
  • Familiarity with Yocto build systems and embedded Linux kernel and driver development.

Tantalus Systems is partnering with Calix to deliver fibre-enabled applications to electric cooperative and municipal utilities across North America. The collaboration pairs Tantalus' TRUSense Fiber Gateway and TRUConnect AMI platform with Calix's Optical Network Terminal technology and AI-native Calix One platform. The partnership targets more than 200 electric cooperatives currently deploying fibre networks. The combined solution enables utilities to deploy advanced metering infrastructure, enhanced broadband, and grid optimisation capabilities, including integration of distributed energy resources.
