Requirements
  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering and product development in individual contributor as well as leadership roles
  • Bachelor of Science or Engineering, specializing in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Software Engineering disciplines
  • Experience in full-stack development including mobile apps, web UI, middleware, platform services, and infrastructure as code
  • Professional certifications in software engineering, architecture, or product management
  • At least 5 years of experience building, mentoring, and managing high-performance distributed engineering teams
  • At least 5 years of experience in Frontend technologies for web, including Typescript and frameworks such as React, Angular, or Ruby on Rails
  • At least 5 years of experience in Backend and general-purpose programming languages and run-times such as Node.js, Python, Ruby, and Go

Responsibilities
  • Play a critical role in the design, development, and deployment of our next-generation expense management solution
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to refine and shape product requirements, ensuring clarity and readiness for engineering
  • Mentor and guide feature teams, fostering effective collaboration within the team, across guild teams, and with other cross-functional project teams
  • Develop robust platform services utilizing domain-driven design and hexagonal architecture
  • Identify, evaluate, recommend, and integrate SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS solutions to efficiently achieve both functional and non-functional objectives
  • Participate in and facilitate Request-for-Comment (RFC) processes and proof-of-concept (POC) activities
  • Integrate analytics and instrumentation toolchains into application development workflows
  • Measure, monitor, and enhance application performance, scalability, and resilience
  • Actively contribute to establishing and maintaining team coding standards and system design conventions
  • Employ the Linear method to effectively guide the Software Development Lifecycle of the team

July 13, 2026 July 12, 2026 4 mins read NEW SHARON - Root Down Market, a restaurant, local food market and gathering place in New Sharon, Maine, has been selected as a recipient of an Amex Shop Small(R) Grant from American Express(R) and Main Street America. The grant provided Root Down Market with $20,000 in funding to purchase a new ice cream stand featuring Maine-made Gifford's Ice Cream while creating meaningful employment opportunities for local teenagers. The new ice cream stand will serve a variety of premium Gifford's Ice Cream flavors and provide local youth with valuable first-job experiences, helping them develop workplace skills, responsibility, and confidence in a supportive community environment. "We are incredibly honored to receive this investment from the American Express Shop Small grant," said Erica Emery, co-owner of Root Down Market. "Since opening two years ago, we have consistently had teenagers apply for jobs here, but we are not set up as a seasonal or after-school job. Dave and I both had our first jobs in the food industry, and we wanted to create a part of our business that would be a good fit for teens looking to work. I really stressed in the grant application that we are focused on local and Maine products and that our community has eager teens looking for work. We were thrilled to be awarded the grant to purchase our ice cream stand." The Root Down Market ice cream stand will proudly feature Maine-made Gifford's Ice Cream and is expected to become a seasonal destination for residents and visitors alike while serving as a model for youth employment and community investment in rural Maine. "Since the Giffords stand in Farmington closed, we thought we could fill the niche for people who were craving this premium Maine brand ice cream. We have brought on six local teens to scoop and serve for the summer. My personal favorite flavor is Southern Peach, and we have a great lineup of their other popular flavors," says Dave Allen, co-owner of Root Down Market. Bank of America and American Express, two of Warren Buffett's largest financial holdings, delivered strong returns over the past decade. A $1,000 investment in Bank of America 10 years ago would have grown to $4,332, a 333% return, whilst the same investment in American Express would have reached $5,915, a 492% return. Both outperformed the S&P 500's 235% return over the same period. Bank of America's recovery from the financial crisis drove performance, with deposits exceeding $2 trillion and 2025 net income of $30.5 billion, up 12.45% year-on-year. The stock trades at 12 times earnings. American Express capitalized on premium card growth amongst younger consumers, with Gen Z and millennials now representing 60% of new acquisitions. The stock trades at 19 times earnings.

Robinhood launches $695 Platinum card to challenge Amex's $895 offering

Robinhood has launched a $695-a-year Platinum credit card, challenging established premium cards like the $895 American Express Platinum. The card, made from 99.9% pure platinum, is marketed as invite-only though anyone can request access online. Cash back earned can be redeemed for statement credits or cash that can be reinvested through Robinhood brokerage accounts. The company says the card targets customers who already use its investing platform, which launched in 2013 and caters to younger, newer investors. Credit card experts suggest the Robinhood card's appeal depends on platform usage. Ryan Smith from Upgraded Points noted that whilst Robinhood offers a lower annual fee, American Express provides superior rewards flexibility and perks overall. The card represents Robinhood's attempt to compete in the premium credit card market long dominated by American Express, Chase and Capital One.

Mastercard and AmEx report double-digit growth amid White House credit card rate cap fears

Both companies guided towards continued double-digit growth in 2026. Despite the robust results, shares of both companies fell on Friday, outpacing broader market declines. The drop appears driven by political anxiety rather than operational concerns, as the White House floats a potential 10% cap on credit card rates. Mastercard reported contained expenses and strong dollar volume growth, particularly in its high-margin services business.
