Requirements
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients, medical staff, and the public.
  • Ability to administer subcutaneous, intradermal, and intramuscular injections.
  • Ability to manually take patient vital signs.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in a difficult or emergent situation.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, push, pull, maintain balance, perform a full range of body motion, and handle and lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer and keyboard at 50 words per minute, calculator, telephone, copier, and fax.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle to travel between clinics.
  • Valid driver's license.
Responsibilities
  • Escort patients to exam rooms and obtain vital signs, medical history, and current medication lists.
  • Communicate allergy testing and treatment protocols to patients.
  • Administer allergy tests and subcutaneous, intradermal, and intramuscular injections.
  • Conduct thorough and accurate spirometry testing.
  • Perform testing and treatment according to clinic protocols and safety measures.
  • Navigate the electronic health record system to record accurate patient health information.
  • Greet, welcome, and direct patients and visitors appropriately.
  • Answer incoming and outgoing phone calls and provide accurate information.
  • Track clinical inventory and resupply it when needed.
  • Ensure end-of-day reports and logs are accurate and complete.
  • Follow Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act rules and regulations, including patient-information confidentiality.
  • Follow Occupational Safety and Health Administration requirements, including universal precautions and sharps-disposal guidelines.
  • Cross-train in front- and back-office duties to provide full-cycle clinic support.
  • Become proficient in the practice-management side of the electronic health record.
  • Obtain computed tomography authorizations.
  • Scan patient documents and medical records and attach them to charts.
  • Check patients in by obtaining demographic, primary care provider, contact, and insurance information.
  • Check patients out and take payments.
  • Communicate a patient's out-of-pocket maximum.
  • Send end-of-day emails to appropriate parties.
  • Schedule patient appointments.
  • Enroll patients in their treatment of choice.
Desired Qualifications
  • Completed Medical Assistant program or degree.
  • One or more years of Medical Assistant experience.
  • One or more years of Medical Receptionist experience.
  • Medical Assistant certificate, vocational nurse license, or related experience.
  • Current CPR certification.
