Requirements
  • Must be a United States citizen with an active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information security clearance.
  • Have 8 or more years of related advanced cybersecurity analytics work experience.
  • Hold a certification compliant with Department of Defense 8140.01 and Department of Defense 8570.01-M Information Assurance Technical Level III and Cybersecurity Service Provider Analyst requirements.
  • Have experience with data mining or building queries in a Security Information and Event Management system.
  • Have a strong understanding of signature development and tuning.
  • Have a strong understanding of network protocols and analysis using protocol analyzers.
  • Know static file signatures, including magic numbers, and how they apply to developing countermeasures for files in transit and files residing locally on a host.
  • Have good working knowledge of regular expressions.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain defensive countermeasures for the enterprise.
  • Analyze trends and patterns of data on National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency networks to identify and predict previously undiscovered events and incidents, and develop or tune rules, signatures, and scripts as needed.
  • Coordinate with Defensive Cyber Operations and Focused Operations to develop or tune rules, signatures, and scripts.
  • Coordinate with other Cybersecurity Operations Services to investigate and obtain information about potential sources of compromise on enterprise systems, and develop or tune rules, signatures, and scripts as needed.
  • Correlate and analyze precursors to incidents, and develop or tune rules, signatures, and scripts as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Cyber Data Analytics team to improve Security Information and Event Management alert efficiency by evaluating valid alerts and false positives, and develop or tune rules, signatures, and scripts as needed.
  • Work with the Cyber Incident Response Team by assessing ongoing incident activity to predict adversary responses and locations of compromise to assist with triage.
  • Document all work in the authorized ticketing system with sufficient detail to enable stakeholders to systematically reconstruct the analysis.
  • Provide input to recurring meetings and briefings as required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Be comfortable using a hex editor.
  • Be able to write Python, Bash, and PowerShell scripts.
  • Analyze each use case as it pertains to detection logic and identify the corresponding capability.
  • Have a good understanding of Purple Team tactics.
  • Be familiar with security in a cloud environment and its application to visibility gaps, data lakes, and data mining.
