Requirements
  • Graduate from a program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education of the American Occupational Therapy Association and meet the requirements for certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
  • Maintain certification through the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy.
  • Be currently certified to practice in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
  • Hold a Pennsylvania Occupational Therapy Assistant license issued by the State Board of Occupational Therapy.
Responsibilities
  • Understand and adhere to established Agency policies and procedures.
  • Improve or minimize residual physical disabilities of patients.
  • Return individuals to an optimum and productive level within their capabilities.
  • Participate with all other home care personnel in patient care planning.
  • Perform all skilled procedures ordered by the physician according to the plan of care established by the Occupational Therapist.
  • Consult with the Occupational Therapist regarding changes in treatment.
  • Instruct patients and family members in home programs and fine motor movement exercises.
  • Participate in in-service education and present in-service programs as assigned.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement activities as assigned.
  • Attend all scheduled patient care conferences.
  • Prepare medical records and update care plans for each patient visit in a timely manner according to Agency policy.
  • Perform services planned, delegated, and supervised by the Occupational Therapist.
  • Assist in preparing clinical and progress notes.
  • Participate in educating the patient and family.
  • Assess the patient's reaction to care provided.
  • Work closely with the patient and family or support system.
  • Maintain communication with physicians, the Occupational Therapist, and family members to adequately plan for and provide the patient's needs.
Desired Qualifications
  • Two years of experience preferred.
