We are seeking a Financial Accountant to join our team committed to delivering outstanding service to employees and clients. As a Financial Accountant, you will play an important role in supporting financial decision-making by collecting, analyzing, and reporting financial data. What you'll do:
- Assist with monthly accounting for investments, reconciliations, reporting of activities, and analysis.
- Assist with coordination and preparation of the annual IRS Form 990s for all Buckner entities.
- Respond to financial inquiries by gathering, analyzing, summarizing and interpreting data.
- Assist with accomplishing finance & organization mission by completing related tasks as required.
- Assist with tracking designated accounts and activities.
- Prepare timely and accurate journal entries in accordance with established guidelines.
- Prepare timely and accurate reconciliations of bank accounts and general ledger accounts.
- Assist with maintaining the accounting and reporting of bequest and estate activities.
- Assist in the annual audit process with audit work paper preparation and direct responses to auditors.
- Assist with budgeting activities as required.
- Assist in accounting for fixed assets, as needed.
- Assist in accounting for accounts receivable.
- Assist in performing financial analysis as needed.
- Audit the work of other department employees as needed.
- Assist with maintaining accurate and current records of the accounting for development activities.
- Manage and produce standing monthly, quarterly and ad hoc financial and portfolio reports. This will include running database queries, exporting data, updating reports, reviewing for accuracy and delivery in electronic and/or hard copy format.
- Maintain compliance with all tax laws and generally accepted accounting practices for non-profit organizations.
- Maintain accurate business records including all financial transactions, collection of accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
- Coordinate with co-workers to meet timely objectives which have been established for the successful completion of a project.
What you’ll bring:
- Bachelor's Degree in accounting or related field.
- Minimum two years of related experience in accounting.
- Proficient working knowledge of the accounting laws and regulations governing the agency.
- Proficient working knowledge and ability to manage automated accounting systems.
- Recognized ability to meet multiple deadlines by maintaining a high level of organization.
- Proficient working knowledge and ability to accurately and timely operate and perform computer-related tasks with specific equipment and software applications.
- Demonstrated strong analytical skills, including an ability to synthesize large amounts of information and to focus quickly on the essence of an issue; strong commitment to producing measurable results.
- Ability to use up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or 10 pounds continuously to move objects.
- Ability to walk, stand, and sit, sometimes for prolonged periods of time.
