Requirements
  • At least 8 years of experience building software or data products, including leading technical design on complex, ambiguous projects.
  • Strong Python and advanced SQL skills, with comfort working in a substantial codebase and an analytical data warehouse.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and shipping large language model-based systems in production, including agents, tool use, orchestration, and structured outputs.
  • Ability to decompose ambiguous capabilities into components, interfaces, and failure modes and explain the rationale for system boundaries.
  • A considered approach to evaluating non-deterministic systems, with practical experience applying it.
  • Working familiarity with marketing measurement, including attribution, incrementality, media mix modeling, and campaign performance, sufficient to assess whether automated interpretation is analytically sound.
  • Experience mentoring or leading engineers, whether or not in a formal management role.
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline.
Responsibilities
  • Own the architecture of the artificial intelligence capability, including agent scope, composition, and boundaries between tools, context, and model reasoning.
  • Design evaluation before designing solutions, defining correctness criteria, regression detection for non-deterministic systems, and the appropriate role of human review.
  • Establish engineering standards for source control, testing, documentation, and deployment.
  • Write production code.
  • Prototype quickly to resolve technical uncertainty and decide what becomes a supported system and what is discarded.
  • Personally own the components carrying the highest technical risk.
  • Hire, onboard, and develop the first senior-engineer direct report.
  • Set technical direction and raise quality through design reviews and code reviews.
  • Absorb technical scope currently carried by the vice president and become a resource for the analytics organization’s hardest technical problems.
  • Promote engineering discipline, documentation, code quality, and knowledge sharing across the team.
  • Work directly with analytics leads and client teams to identify where automation and artificial intelligence create leverage.
  • Translate loosely specified business problems into system designs and explain those designs to non-technical partners.
  • Balance experimentation with the reliability required for client-facing workflows.
  • Develop tools that increase Analytics team usage, adoption, efficiency, and insight generation.
Desired Qualifications
  • Daily use of agentic development environments such as Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar tools.
  • Experience with Databricks, Greenplum, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, BigQuery, or comparable analytical platforms.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, Amazon Web Services, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines and disciplined code review practices.
  • Experience building knowledge-management or retrieval systems that remain accurate as they grow.
  • Experience integrating applications with application programming interfaces, databases, and enterprise platforms.
  • Background in marketing analytics, media, or advertising technology.
  • Experience working with client data under confidentiality and governance constraints.
