Requirements
  • Have a valid commercial driver's license.
  • Have a safe driving record.
  • Be at least 21 years old.
  • Pass a Department of Transportation drug test and physical examination.
  • Meet all Department of Transportation requirements.
  • Have knowledge of shipping documents.
  • Have knowledge of federal motor carrier safety regulations.
  • Be able to lift 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Be able to climb in and out of tractors and trailers safely.
  • Be able to secure loads with straps, load locks, and doors.
  • Be able to spot trailers at loading docks, including properly raising and lowering landing gear.
  • Be able to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Be able to perform duties in temperature extremes.
  • Present a neat and clean appearance.
  • Be able to operate loading equipment.
Responsibilities
  • Fill in on an as-needed basis for shorter local runs, primarily on Fridays.
  • Operate over-the-road multi-drop runs when full-time drivers are on vacation, approximately 4–6 weeks per year.
  • Maintain driver's logs as required by federal motor carrier regulations.
