Our name has been synonymous with excellence for well over 100 years: the Silver Ghost was officially dubbed 'the best car in the world' in 1913, and we proudly retain that crown with the motor cars we hand-build at the Home of Rolls-Royce at Goodwood today. We enjoy the rare privilege of a trade mark that transcends not only our own company, but our entire industry, with 'the Rolls-Royce of...' a global shorthand for the best of the best in any field. And for us as a team, it's highly gratifying that our world-class engineering, craftsmanship and creativity resonate far beyond those who actually own and drive our motor cars." Julian Jenkins, Director of Sales & Brand, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Rolls-Royce has been voted Britain's favourite trade mark of all time in a new poll commissioned by the Intellectual Property Office (IPO) to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the first UK trade mark being registered. Members of the public were invited to nominate and share their favourite UK trade marks, past or present, and explain what they felt makes a trade mark iconic. From around 2,000 responses, Rolls-Royce topped the list, its famous 'double R' trade mark, formed by the interlocked initial letters of its founders' surnames, representing more than a century of British engineering excellence and craftsmanship in the popular consciousness. One respondent described Rolls-Royce as "an iconic British brand name which over time has become a worldwide metaphor for the best of the best", with another calling it simply "the mark of quality". The IPO is the official UK government body responsible for intellectual property (IP) rights, including patents, designs, trade marks and copyright. It currently protects more than 2.5 million marks across 45 different classes of goods and services, with approximately 200,000 new applications received during the past 12 months alone. In its words, the 150th anniversary celebrates not just a legal milestone, but also the enduring role that brands play in connecting businesses with the public. Article offline attachments.
Rolls-Royce launches new two-seater electric car. 22 hours ago Hsin-Yi LoSouth East Luxury car maker Rolls-Royce has unveiled a new two-seater electric convertible model. The BMW-owned company said it will create just 100 of the Project Nightingale cars and will be hand-built at the Rolls-Royce headquarters in Goodwood, West Sussex, with deliveries anticipated to start in 2028. Being pure electric means there will be "virtually no mechanical noise", the company said. Last month, Rolls-Royce scrapped its pledge to only sell pure-electric cars from 2030, adding it would continue to offer vehicles with petrol engines beyond that date. Rolls-Royce said Project Nightingale will measure 5.76m, which is roughly the same length as its flagship four- or five-seater saloon, Phantom. It added it would have a long bonnet to give it a "torpedo-shaped form", drawing inspiration from the company's experimental cars of the 1920s, known as EX models, and the Art Deco era. Chris Brownridge, chief executive of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, said: "Some of the most discerning Rolls-Royce clients in the world asked Perpetual Value Ltd for its most ambitious work. "We responded by bringing three things together that have never co-existed in our brand: the complete design freedom of coachbuilding, our powerful, near-silent all-electric powertrain, and a uniquely potent yet serene expression of open-top motoring." Brownbridge adds Project Nightingale is the "most extravagant expression of what Rolls-Royce is capable of today". While the company does not publicly disclose the price of its cars, it said Project Nightingale would sit between its Private Commission and Coachbuild products, which have been estimated to cost more than £500,000 and £20m respectively. Rolls-Royce's electric SUV revives A long-forgotten hood design. A new Rolls-Royce electric crossover targeting the Bentley Barnato has surfaced in Munich, hiding its most unusual feature at the very front 3 hours ago * Rolls-Royce's new electric crossover will have a split-opening hood. * It features a central spine as well as two outer panels that lift up. * SUV will likely mix BMW Neue Klasse tech with Spectre developments. Rolls-Royce is working on an electric crossover to battle the Bentley Barnato and spy photographers recently snapped a prototype undergoing testing in Munich. While that's notable by itself, the model appears to have an old school split hood. Thanks to a beefy camera lens, Carscoops can see the 'hood' will have a central spine with a retractable spirit of ecstasy hood ornament at the front. On either side are two movable panels, which apparently lift up similar to a trunk lid. Rolls-Royce filed a patent for the idea in 2024 and it gives you a pretty good idea of what to expect. Carscoops can also see what appears to be a hinge at the front of the hood, although it looks like a drill attachment with a Phillips bit when you zoom in closer. SHProshots. Forgotten tools aside, the crossover has a fully enclosed grille with a top-mounted camera. It's flanked by split lighting units including lower headlights with "RR" badging. The model also sports a wide lower intake with horizontal bars. The rest of the design is far more conventional and closely echoes the current Cullinan. As a result, there's a strong shoulder line and slab-sided bodywork. They're joined by a familiar greenhouse, a relatively flat roof, and a thick rear pillar. The déjà vu design continues out back, but the EV has a unique bumper that lacks exhaust cut outs. The bumper also houses the license plate recess, which is a change as it's mounted to the liftgate on the Cullinan. These similarities originally had Carscoops believing the model was the second-generation Cullinan. However, there's been some speculation that the two crossovers could co-exist alongside each other - at least initially. While there are more questions than answers at this point, the model will undoubtedly follow in the footsteps of the Spectre. The coupe sports a 102 kWh battery pack as well as a dual-motor all-wheel drive system developing 577 hp (430kW / 584 PS) and 664 lb-ft (900Nm) of torque. This enables the model to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 4.4 seconds and have a WLTP range of 329 miles (530 km). There could also be a more powerful Black Badge variant with 650 hp (485 kW / 659 PS) and 793 lb-ft (1,075 Nm) of torque. That being said, the crossover could benefit from newer technologies like the facelifted 7-Series. BMW recently announced the flagship sedan is getting their Gen6 eDrive technology and this will include a cylindrical cell lithium-ion battery with a 20% higher energy density. Carscoops can also expect the model to incorporate some other Neue Klasse advancements.

Over 100 Rolls-Royce Cullinan SUVs recalled over loose safety-belt bolt. A safety recall affects 102 Rolls-Royce Cullinan SUVs due to loose safety-belt tensioner bolts. Owners should avoid using rear seats until serviced. Learn more now. Rolls-Royce has announced a safety recall affecting 102 of its ultra-luxury Cullinan SUVs, built between November 2019 and November 2025. The issue stems from a bolt in the rear-seat safety-belt tensioner that may not have been tightened to specification during production. What the problem is. During a routine road-test, engineers heard a distinct rattling noise coming from the rear-row belt-tensioning assembly. Inspection revealed that the bolt securing the tensioner could loosen over time, reducing the belt's ability to restrain passengers in a crash. Which vehicles are affected? The recall covers every Cullinan that rolled off the factory floor from 27 November 2019 through 19 November 2025. Serial numbers and VINs are being cross-checked by dealers, but owners can expect their vehicle to be part of the 102-car batch. What owners should do now. * Avoid using the rear seats or placing luggage in the trunk until the bolt is inspected. * Schedule a service appointment at an authorized Rolls-Royce centre. The fix - tightening the bolt to the correct torque - is free of charge. * Do not ignore the advisory; a loose bolt could allow the rear-seat belt to fail, increasing the risk of injury. Safety implications. If the tensioner bolt loosens, the belt may not lock fully during an impact. In some versions, the rear seat back could shift forward when the luggage compartment moves, further compromising occupant protection. Company response. Rolls-Royce confirmed that, to date, no accidents or injuries have been linked to the defect. The automaker stresses that the remedy is straightforward and will be performed at no cost to the customer. Industry perspective. While a 102-vehicle recall is modest compared with mass-market brands, it carries significant weight for a marque famous for meticulous craftsmanship. The Cullinan is the brand's flagship SUV and one of the most expensive vehicles on the road, so the recall underscores Rolls-Royce's commitment to maintaining its safety standards. Owners of the affected Cullinan models should contact their local dealer promptly to arrange the inspection and repair. How useful was this post? Click on a star to rate it! No votes so far!
