Requirements
  • Must possess and maintain a valid California “C” driver’s license.
  • Proven experience and technical expertise in the electric power controller trade.
  • Skilled in the operation, maintenance, repair, and installation of power plant systems and equipment, including: Generators, transformers, and circuit breakers; Switching stations and substations; Distribution and transmission lines; Control panels and building electrical systems
  • Ability to compute utility-related requirements using basic mathematics.
  • Proficiency in interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Remote site located on San Clemente Island, CA
  • Travel to and from the island provided via government flight
  • Work may involve exposure to environmental hazards and requires physical stamina
Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled electrical power outages in support of construction and maintenance activities.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair electrical power systems, including generators, transformers, switching stations, substations, distribution/transmission lines, and related equipment.
  • Diagnose deficiencies, troubleshoot issues, and install devices, equipment, and system components.
  • Utilize proper hand-eye coordination and sensory perception to safely operate equipment and perform repairs.
  • Read, interpret, and apply standard construction blueprints, technical manuals, and operating procedures.
  • Support compliance with NAVFAC SW Safety and Health Requirements Manual, as well as applicable DoD, Navy, and Federal regulations.
  • Ensure safe, efficient, and effective use of tools, equipment, and protective devices.
  • Coordinate with other trades to ensure system integration and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities.
  • Drive a motorized vehicle in support of daily operations and emergency responses.
