  • Bachelor's degree in related field or direct and equivalent work experience
  • 4+ years of experience in a clinical/managed care setting with knowledge of health and care management functions and insurance principles. Experience in health insurance and/or vendor management. Initiative, project or program implementation experience (e.g., scoping, defining business needs and solutions, evaluation of options, mapping new business process, etc.) with demonstrated success independently managing projects
  • Business intuition and natural curiosity with ability to review data/trends, develop, and communicate actionable insights in order to support business decisions
  • Ability to create clear concise and well thought out documentation and provide ongoing artifact maintenance
  • Advanced consultation skills with the ability to provide recommendations, influence others to action, and solicit collaboration
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task priorities. Ability to prioritize initiatives, align appropriate. resources, and motivate teams in order to achieve success. Flexible and adaptable to change
  • Critical thinking and analytic skills that enable the ability to assess available information and data, identify business observations and questions, and clearly communicate the key findings to others succinctly and clearly
  • Demonstrates ownership and commitment to work assignments; drives tasks and milestones toward successful completion, and holds themselves accountable for successful performance
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a wide variety of business stakeholders, refined active listening skills to understand the business needs of others, ability to cultivate information about those needs and produce refined on target responses
  • Proficiency with MS Office
  • Travel required up to 5 percent
Responsibilities
  • About the Role: As a Health Services Business Development Consultant, you will play a key role in managing Health Services information to support Wellmark's Sales and Marketing Communications teams. You will serve as the liaison between the Sales/Product Teams and Health Services and will be leaned on to help address questions between these teams. In addition, in collaboration with Marketing, you will help develop and maintain Health Service focused collateral and content. You will also play a key role in monitoring and managing Health Services vendors, working in collaboration with Health Service leaders, corporate vendor management team, and procurement. You will partner with team members to maintain Health Services business continuity plan
  • About You: You are an organized professional who is skilled in time management and prioritization. You are a go-getter and take initiative to see tasks through to completion while leveraging resources to make it happen successfully. You possess strong critical thinking skills and enjoy getting to the root cause of a question or concern. You are an effective communicator, both verbally and in writing, and like work where you can collaborate with team members throughout the organization. You are naturally curious and creative in your work and leverage this skill to help you to develop new insights and recommendations in an evolving team. Health plan vendor management experience is a plus!
