Requirements
  • A minimum of two years of experience is required.
  • A Bachelor's degree is required.
  • An active District of Columbia Recreation Therapy license is required.
  • Proficiency in interpersonal communication and interdisciplinary teamwork is required.
  • Experience and skill in providing leisure activities to patients with various types and presentations of psychiatric or behavioral health disorders is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs is required.
  • The candidate must be flexible to adjust to the needs of a fast-paced environment.
  • The candidate must demonstrate effective problem-solving skills and effective oral and written communication skills.
Responsibilities
  • Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning when necessary.
  • Participate in agency-wide training programs and in-services.
  • Assist with ensuring that programming schedules are conducted as required.
  • Provide quality and timely clinical documentation in accordance with Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies' requirements.
  • Design and implement therapeutic recreation, art, or music activities focused on individualized patient needs to foster effective interactions, enhance coping skills and cognitive functioning, support reality orientation, and prioritize independence in self-care.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Previous adult behavioral health experience is preferred.
