Requirements
  • For the Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner path, hold a Master's or Doctorate degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing.
  • For the Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner path, hold a Washington State Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner license with prescriptive privileges.
  • Hold national certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner; Acute Care Nurse Practitioner board certification or Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner board certification is preferred.
  • Family Nurse Practitioners with at least five years of Advanced Practice Provider critical care experience will also be considered.
  • For the Physician Assistant path, hold licensure as a Physician Assistant in Washington State and certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
  • Hold Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
  • Be eligible to receive hospital staff appointments for adjunct staff membership under the hospital's Medical Staff By-Laws for hospital-based positions.
Responsibilities
  • Perform patient care by admitting new patients, participating in daily patient rounds, evaluating and managing intensive care unit patients, writing daily progress notes, and formulating and implementing plans.
  • Collaborate with acute care services, including orthopedic spine, neurosurgery, and neurology, to provide daily sign-out for patients leaving the unit.
  • Use the intensive care unit checklist during morning rounds to complete the daily checklist for each patient and ensure proper care and communication with nursing staff.
  • Facilitate family meetings and participate in goals-of-care discussions as appropriate.
  • Perform procedures including central venous catheter placement, arterial line placement, bronchoscopy, lumbar punctures, and point-of-care ultrasound.
  • Participate in quality-improvement and research activities, including quality-improvement meetings and ongoing quality-improvement projects.
Desired Qualifications
  • National certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, specifically Acute Care Nurse Practitioner board certification or Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner board certification.
