Requirements
  • Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) Completion of accredited Oncology/Hematology Fellowship Board Certified in Internal Medicine and board eligible or certified in Medical Oncology, as well as able to meet medical licensure requirements in Ohio Active certification from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) required.
Responsibilities
  • Direct and provide direct and indirect patient care services in both inpatient and outpatient settings
  • Conduct ambulatory clinics; interview, obtain and review medical history of patients; perform physical examinations to assess medical or surgical needs
  • Perform relevant oncology procedures; order special procedures, diagnostic testing, and other ancillary services; respond to consultation requests; determine, prescribe and implement treatment plans and/or medications required
  • Documents all services and instructions provided in medical record
  • Educates patients and promotes wellness, prevention and early detection by providing materials, resources and services to patient and their families
  • Directs and participates in quality assessment and improvement activities
  • Serves as preceptor and provides bedside training of residents, fellows, medical students, undergraduate & graduate students, nursing staff, and other allied medical professionals in the specialty of oncology
  • Ensures continuing medical education requirements are met
  • Participates in department, college, medical center and university committees and other service activities
