Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing and possess a valid Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse license in good standing according to state and federal requirements.
- Have a thorough understanding of the principles of safe and effective nursing practices within the state of employment.
- Be able to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel.
- Be able to maintain confidentiality, protect the integrity of confidential information, and comply with corporate compliance and HIPAA requirements.
- Adhere to the professional code of ethics.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily care, health support, safety, and comfort for residents, including professional assessments and documentation.
- Assist with management of the assigned unit, charge nurse, and other nursing staff.
- Supervise the unit and provide written and verbal care assignments, routine skills, and procedures to ensure quality resident care.
- Supervise and participate in developing and implementing resident care plans.
- Document resident progress and make recommendations for care-plan revisions.
- Assist the Director of Nursing and Assistant Director of Nursing with coordinating, managing, and monitoring the review of nurses’ notes to determine whether care plans are being followed.
- Supervise staff monitoring each resident’s psychological functions, fluid balance, elimination, electrolyte status, laboratory results, respiratory status, neurological status, and nutritional status to detect deviations from normal and gauge progress.
- Make rounds with the physician.
- Maintain the confidentiality of residents and their care to protect resident rights and privacy.
- Complete required documentation and teach residents regarding admissions, transfers, and discharges according to policies and procedures.
- Perform other assigned duties.
