Requirements
  • The position requires a Department of Transportation physical and a current Department of Transportation medical card.
  • A Journeyman Certificate is required.
  • A high school graduate, General Educational Development holder, or equivalent studies/experience is required.
  • A minimum of 4 years of previous experience is required.
  • A valid Class A Commercial Driver's License is required.
  • The employee must have a valid driver's license and personal transportation.
  • The employee must be able to work eight hours per day, night shifts, 40 hours per week, and overtime as required, including with little or short notice.
  • The employee must be able to work in all weather conditions and use required personal protective equipment and respirators when required.
Responsibilities
  • Direct, guide, and ensure the safety, health, and welfare of site staff while documenting and executing the day-to-day field operations of the project.
  • Manage day-to-day crews and subcontractors and manage weekly changes and production safely and productively.
  • Ensure safe working conditions and that personnel are trained on jobsite hazards and project productivity requirements.
  • Ensure project execution.
  • Lead and work alongside crews consisting of journeymen, apprentices, operators, and groundmen.
  • Lay out work and ensure materials, tools, equipment, and information are located properly to meet construction schedules.
  • Interact with the construction manager or project manager and, on smaller projects, oversee complete installation.
  • Monitor work in progress.
  • Fairly evaluate fellow employees' work performance.
  • Train field personnel in technical skills and safety methods.
  • Understand and comply with company and job safety requirements, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration requirements, company policies, and standard operating procedures.
  • Apply discipline to field staff when necessary.
  • Ensure emergency phone numbers, hospital locations, and emergency routes are understood for each project.
  • Work with the Safety Department to ensure safety incidents are investigated openly and honestly.
  • Ensure safety flashes and safety information are posted and disseminated to field personnel.
  • Ensure minor maintenance, upkeep, and servicing of equipment are completed.
  • Document employee training for safe operation of each piece of equipment or tool.
  • Ensure staff are trained on the equipment they operate.
  • Use and safely handle tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Organize materials and tools to maintain clean and neat work areas.
  • Install electrical systems as required.
  • Troubleshoot all types of wiring accurately and on time.
  • Safely use and instruct personnel in the proper use of power tools, saws, threaders, wire tuggers, hydraulic benders, and knockout punches.
  • Work with the shop to maximize company equipment resources.
  • Communicate with the crew, subcontractors, and owner to maintain effective working relationships.
  • Inventory, record, organize, and track usage of required materials.
  • Read and understand contract requirements and project paperwork documentation.
  • Oversee time reporting and proper coding of timesheets.
  • Complete weekly and monthly project paperwork.
  • Review marked-up material purchase orders, field purchase orders, cash receipts, and charge-card receipts submitted at least weekly.
  • Send employee termination notices with comments to the project manager and Human Resources.
  • Complete other employee documentation, including discipline, time-off, and evaluations.
  • Ensure all paperwork is completed accurately and on time.

  • A minimum of 4 years of previous experience, preferably in distribution and small transmission construction.

Percheron, a 41-year-old company, has been acquired by Quanta Services. The deal represents a significant milestone for Percheron, which expects the acquisition to expand its resources, strengthen capabilities and create new growth opportunities. Quanta Services acquires Davenport's Tri-City Group, adding 2,800 employees to 69,000-strong workforce

Quanta Services has acquired Davenport-based Tri-City Group, a family of contractors and engineering companies specialising in electrical construction, technology solutions and industrial services. The acquisition was completed in the fourth quarter of 2025. Tri-City Group will retain its name, brand and leadership team, including the Palmer Family. The company, which has operated since 1895, employs over 2,800 people and has completed projects in 46 states, two US territories and six countries. Houston-based Quanta Services, which employs approximately 69,000 people, is a specialised contracting company providing integrated engineering, procurement, construction and maintenance services for electric power, renewable energy and underground utility infrastructure. The acquisition strengthens Quanta's electrical infrastructure services capabilities across key US regions.
