Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain hospitality excellence throughout the restaurant and solve problems in the moment to exceed guest expectations.
  • Participate regularly in meetings with back-of-house and front-of-house management staff.
  • Oversee meetings and training sessions with the full restaurant staff.
  • Maintain the restaurant’s professional image, including cleanliness, uniforms, and appearance standards.
  • Oversee safety, security, health, sanitation, and legal compliance standards and procedures across restaurant operations.
  • Open and close the restaurant, including reconciling bank statements, conducting pre-shift meetings, managing the service floor, touching tables, running food, overseeing staff, and completing end-of-day reporting to the Director of Hospitality.
  • Execute monthly inventory accurately and efficiently with the Director of Hospitality Operations.
  • Develop and execute event programming with the Director of Hospitality Operations.
  • Bring new ideas and strategies to the team to support growth and development.
  • Establish a welcoming, inclusive, and equitable workplace and hold team members accountable for maintaining it.
  • Train and coach team members on points of service, hospitality, and product knowledge.
  • Develop and oversee staffing and scheduling.
  • Communicate transparently and resolve conflicts to support team cohesion and appreciation of diverse perspectives.
  • Serve as the primary contact for restaurant staff comments, questions, and concerns, and document, resolve, or escalate them as appropriate.
  • Maintain working knowledge of applicable labor laws and regulations and ensure management procedures comply with best practices.
  • Perform other related duties and projects as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Extensive knowledge of and passion for Japanese food and beverage.
  • Professional working fluency in Japanese.
  • Experience with Japanese language and culture.
  • Experience in the outdoor, retail, or apparel industries.
