Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • One year of customer service or public interaction experience is required.
  • A valid Texas Driver’s License is required.
  • Must possess or obtain within six months of employment Community First Aid and Safety, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification.
  • Knowledge of the operational characteristics, services, and activities of nature education, recreation, and athletic facilities is required.
  • Knowledge of recreation, nature education, athletic program and league, and special-event planning and coordination principles and practices is required.
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and practices is required.
  • Knowledge of federal and state safety laws and regulations is required.
  • Skill in interpreting customer needs and expectations and resolving customer service and public relations issues is required.
  • Skill in analyzing problems, providing alternatives, and identifying solutions in support of established goals is required.
  • Skill in responding to emergencies and determining corrective actions using available resources is required.
  • Skill in operating and maintaining a personal computer with point-of-sale and reservation or registration software and communications equipment is required.
  • Skill in managing cash-handling and reporting processes is required.
  • Must communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, bend, and reach for extended periods and safely pull, push, lift, and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work irregular hours, including weekdays, weekends, holidays, and evenings.
  • May be required to work immediately before, during, or after an emergency or disaster.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in ensuring the delivery of high-quality and consistent athletic programs and leagues.
  • Plan, organize, facilitate, and instruct approved programs to meet community needs in alignment with city objectives, policies and procedures, and state and federal laws.
  • Act as an on-site monitor for outdoor sports leagues and provide materials and scorekeeping for participants and umpires.
  • Provide effective and courteous customer service to facility guests, program participants, and the general public.
  • Assist in promoting and coordinating city-wide special events, including event setup and teardown.
  • Assist in managing administrative activities, including computer records and cash management, and operate the computer registration or reservation system.
  • Facilitate and manage use of park amenities and facilities such as paddle boats and miniature golf.
  • Maintain facility cleanliness and help present a clean, comfortable, and safe environment.
  • Report potential and existing safety issues or concerns to supervisors to ensure patron safety.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in recreation, nature education, or athletic instruction is preferred.
