Netflix revenue growth slows to 11.7% but streaming dominance makes it a buy despite no dividend

Netflix reported disappointing second-quarter results, with revenue growth of 13.4% to $12.56 billion missing analyst expectations. The company's guidance for third-quarter growth of 11.7% also fell short, marking a slowdown in the streaming business. Despite the weaker performance and lack of dividends, analysts argue Netflix remains a solid long-term investment. The company maintains its position as the leading streaming platform in the US and continues growing internationally, with 18% growth in Asia-Pacific last quarter. Netflix's profitability sets it apart from competitors. The company converted 24% of its revenue into net income during the first half of 2026, totalling $6 billion. This financial strength, combined with its powerful brand recognition and content library, positions Netflix to continue dominating the streaming market as it matures.

Jack Ryan creator's latest thriller series gets exciting filming update.

Jack Ryan creator's latest thriller series gets exciting filming update. An international adventure awaits. By Divya SoniPublished: 06 September 2026 Production is officially under way for Netflix's upcoming thriller series, based on Dan Brown's novel The Secret of Secrets. The as-yet-untitled show is co-created and executively produced by The Da Vinci Code writer Brown and Jack Ryan's Carlton Cuse, with filming taking place in Prague. According to Deadline, the story centres around a groundbreaking manuscript written by scientist Katherine Solomon. Her discoveries challenge everything humanity knows about the mind. When Katherine suddenly goes missing, her fate is left in the hands of symbologist Robert Langdon. Robert must race against ancient forces and time to rescue the scientist and her vital research. The adaptation will reportedly blend futuristic science with ancient mythology, creating a suspenseful, international adventure. The Secret of Secrets is the sixth instalment in Brown's Robert Langdon series, with Morgan Spector cast in the lead role. A first look image sees Spector in character, alongside Rebecca Hall who will play Katherine. The regular cast is rounded out by Cherry Jones as Heide Nagel, Corey Stoll as Everett Finch, Rob Delaney as Jonas Faukman, and Abbey Lee as Sasha Vesna. As well as creating the series, Cuse will serve as writer and showrunner on the project. His other work includes executive producing and showrunning the sci-fi adventure series Lost, which ran from 2004 - 2010. In 2018, Cuse and writer Graham Roland created the TV adaptation Jack Ryan, based on author Tom Clancy's popular CIA character. The show starred John Krasinski in the titular role and received a sequel film, Jack Ryan: Ghost War, earlier this year. Netflix is Developing Lucy Clarke's Thriller THE SURF HOUSE as a New TV Series.

Netflix is Developing Lucy Clarke's Thriller THE SURF HOUSE as a New TV Series. Netflix is adding another mystery thriller to its growing lineup, and this one sounds like it has all the ingredients for an addictive binge-watch. The streaming service is developing a television adaptation of Lucy Clarke's novel The Surf House, a suspense-filled story set against the stunning coastline of Morocco, where paradise hides some dangerous secrets. Set atop the cliffs of Morocco, The Surf House takes place in a haven for surfers and travelers looking to escape into endless sunshine and perfect waves. But beneath the laid-back atmosphere is a mystery that refuses to stay buried. The story follows Bea, who arrives at the sanctuary after a frightening encounter in Marrakesh, hoping to find safety. Instead, she discovers that another young woman who stayed at the same retreat, explored the same beaches, and crossed paths with the same guests disappeared without a trace a year earlier. The last place she was ever seen was The Surf House, pulling Bea into a mystery that becomes increasingly difficult to escape. The project is currently in development with Ed Lilly, whose recent directing work includes Tell Me Lies and Industry, leading the adaptation. The series is being produced by The North Road Company and Jessica Rhoades' Pacesetter Productions. According to Deadline, the project is being developed through Netflix's U.S. team. Amy Israel and Josh Stern are executive producing for The North Road, while Jessica Rhoades, Alison Mo Massey, and Lilly will executive produce for Pacesetter. Clarke has built an impressive reputation for writing gripping destination thrillers, and Hollywood has certainly taken notice. She's becoming one of the UK's go-to authors for screen adaptations, with several of her novels already making the leap to television. Her novel The Castaways was adapted into a Paramount+ series starring Sheridan Smith, while No Escape also received a Paramount+ adaptation. Another of her books, The Hike, has already been optioned by Urban Myth Films, the Studiocanal-backed production company. Lilly has also been gaining momentum as one of Britain's rising filmmakers. Along with directing six episodes of Hulu's Tell Me Lies and three episodes of HBO and the BBC's Industry, he previously directed the 2020 indie drama VS., starring Connor Swindells, which explored the UK's rap battle scene. Netflix hasn't announced a cast or production timeline yet, but The Surf House has all the makings of the kind of mystery series viewers love to watch.

Netflix, cuaron set D&D series "Ravenloft"

Netflix, cuaron set D&D series "Ravenloft" Friday, September 4th 2026 2:32 pm Netflix and Hasbro Entertainment have begun development of "Ravenloft," a live-action TV series based within the "Dungeons & Dragons" universe and set to be executive produced by filmmaker Alfonso Cuarón ("Gravity," "Y Tu Mama Tambien"). The project is completely separate from "The Forgotten Realms," a live-action series also set in the "Dungeons & Dragons" universe that began development at Netflix in early 2025. That project, which Shawn Levy was slated to executive produce, is no longer in the works at the streamer. The character-driven prestige supernatural fantasy series blends adventure with gothic horror, dark magic and tragic romance. The series follows the making of the vampire Darklord Strahd von Zarovich, whose story of power, love, obsession, and undead transformation charts his origins from tragic antihero to one of the franchise's most notorious villains. Writer/executive producer John August, who co-wrote many Tim Burton films like "Corpse Bride" and "Frankenweenie," is also on board the TV series in those capacities, while Gabriel Marano, Richard Schwartz, and Gaby Rodriguez also executive produce. Introduced in 1983 by Tracy and Laura Hickman, Ravenloft has become one of the most played Dungeons & Dragons settings and spawned novels, video games and companion rulebooks.

In 2025, Netflix UK generated $2.81 billion, representing 6.2% of the company's total global revenue of $45.18 billion.
