Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • A Tennessee Pharmacy Technician license is required.
  • At least two years of Pharmacy Technician experience is required, including experience in a high-volume, fast-paced pharmacy.
  • National Pharmacy Technician certification from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or National Healthcareer Association is required.
  • The employee must comply with client occupational health requirements.
  • The employee must follow established safety, infection control, environmental, and isolation practices and procedures.
  • The employee must have interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, clinic staff, pharmacy staff, and providers.

  • The employee must remain free from exclusion under the Office of Inspector General and System for Award Management Medicare/Medicaid lists.
  • The employee must complete required training within established timeframes.
  • The employee must maintain regular attendance in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • The employee must be available to work between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Responsibilities
  • Answer new referral intake and refill calls in a timely and professional manner.
  • Input new referrals and update information in designated computer systems.
  • Coordinate with referral sources to obtain information needed to initiate services for new patient referrals.
  • Enter new referral prescriptions into the computer and have a pharmacist verify the accuracy of prescription entries.
  • Contact patients to discuss Specialty Pharmacy services and collect information needed to establish and maintain complete, accurate pharmacy profiles.
  • Communicate information needed to obtain benefits, authorization, reauthorization, and reimbursement by emailing and scanning pertinent medical information.
  • Discuss financial obligations with new patients.
  • Address insurance issues requiring alternate funding and work with clinical staff and patient assistance personnel.
  • Register or open patients with manufacturer reimbursement programs as needed.
  • Follow up on authorizations to ensure they are achieved before dispensing.
  • Schedule dispensing calendars for new and refill customers.
  • Set up shipping arrangements as needed.
  • Assist with copay collections through communication with patients.
  • Review dispensing calendars and assist with completing daily order entries and shipments.
  • Assist dispensing technicians with refill requests discovered during dispensing.
  • Order medications and supplies, audit receipts of goods, review invoices for correctness, and route invoices to the appropriate contact.
  • Gather medications, supplies, and labels and have shipments verified by the pharmacist.
  • Follow up on shipping exceptions and ensure patients are aware of possible delays.
  • Complete tasks in compliance with Accreditation Commission for Health Care and Utilization Review Accreditation Commission standards and Specialty Pharmacy policies.
  • Maintain accurate and complete patient records.
  • Participate in pharmacy orientation, training programs, staff meetings, in-services, and other required programs.
  • Participate in the Performance Improvement Process.
  • Provide customer and client communication and service consistent with established standards.
  • Compile required reports and audit information.
  • Maintain pharmacy cleanliness and orderliness.
  • Report allegations of impropriety promptly to the Compliance Department.
  • Comply with VytlOne's Ethical Business Conduct policy and Compliance Program.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior specialty pharmacy experience is preferred.
  • Experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a high-volume, fast-paced pharmacy is preferred when combined with prior specialty pharmacy experience.
