Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Applied Science in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited institution
  • Valid Registered Respiratory Therapy (RRT) credential
  • Licensed to work as a Respiratory Therapist in Wisconsin
  • Two (2) years or 4,000 hours of related work experience
  • Program Director must also have a Bachelor's degree in any field
  • Knowledge of current educational methods and strategies, including learner-centered instruction, assessment, evaluation and collaborative techniques and strategies that address closing the gap in student access and achievement across race, gender and disability
  • Skill in the use of educational technology and alternative delivery methods
  • Knowledge and ability to infuse multicultural perspectives into course content and delivery
  • Skill in communications and human relations with populations having diverse socio-economic and racial backgrounds, as well as individuals with disabilities
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for clinical instruction in the Respiratory Therapy Program.
  • Communicate student progress and clinical site activities in a timely manner. Maintain accurate records of student time at the clinical site.
  • Coordinate clinical site resources in order to maximize learning outcomes. Instruct, supervise, and direct students in the provision of clinical respiratory care practice.
  • Assess student progress and make suggestions for improvement. Assure accessibility and availability for students while in designated clinical sites.
  • Coordinate clinical practice to didactic and curricular standards and theory whenever possible.
  • Participate in the on-going evaluation of student progress. Communicate progress and/or student difficulties to the Director of Clinical Education and/or program faculty on a timely basis.
  • Assess or assist in the written evaluation of students in the clinical setting in a timely manner
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Participate in in-service meetings, staff development training or other activities or programs requested by the Department.
  • Comply with college policies and directions regarding student testing, record keeping, advanced standing, providing grades on a timely basis, evaluating student performance.
  • Maintain competencies as an instructor as aligned with the Faculty Quality Assurance System.
