As a game designer focused on RPG combat design, you will need to work with a cross disciplinary group to build new and maintain core combat systems. You will keep up with player feedback and player data to ensure that the game stays balanced as players progress through the game.

You will need to have a deep understanding of RPG mechanics, including hero classes, skills, and abilities, in order to ensure that battles are balanced and enjoyable for players.

In addition, you may be responsible for designing and balancing new modes of gameplay as well as boss encounters, which often require unique mechanics and strategies to defeat.

RPG combat designer is complex and requires a deep understanding of game mechanics, player psychology, and storytelling. But with the right skills and passion for the craft, it can be an incredibly rewarding career path for those who love games and want to help create amazing player experiences.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with PMs and designers to concept and design future game modes & scenarios
• Coordinate with Hero Designer to ensure intent and vision of heroes are brought to life your modes & scenarios
• Build & tune the the modes and scenarios
• Coordinate with QA to ensure bug free and delightful experiences
• Take an active role within our community
• Analyze data alongside PMs and analysts

Qualifications

• Strong portfolio of previous work in game design, with focus on fantasy or sci-fi genres
• Passionate about gaming and strong understanding of the industry
• Up-to-date on latest trends and techniques in design
• Solid understanding in production and game design process
• Creative problem-solver with a passion for game design
• Great communicator and team player

• Bachelor’s degree in game design, computer science, or a related field
• Experience designing and balancing combat systems for games, including knowledge of game engines and scripting languages
