US-based travel agency air ticket sales reached $58.8 billion in the first half of 2026, marking a 12% increase from the same period in 2025, according to Airlines Reporting Corp. (ARC). This represents the highest six-month total on record, surpassing the previous high set in 2023. Total passenger trips rose 4% to 158.5 million, with US domestic and international trips increasing 4% and 3% respectively. Average ticket prices climbed 13% year-over-year. June 2026 alone saw sales of $9 billion, up 19% from June 2025. Passenger trips for the month reached 24.2 million, a 4% increase. "Growth in both domestic and international trips through the first six months of the year shows air travel is still a priority," said Steve Solomon, ARC's chief commercial officer.
US-based travel agency air ticket sales reached $10 billion in April 2026, marking a 15% increase from April 2025, according to Airlines Reporting Corporation. Total passenger trips settled by ARC rose 3% year-over-year to 26.4 million. The data showed domestic trips totalled 16.6 million whilst international trips reached 9.8 million. Despite higher ticket prices compared to last year, month-over-month prices remained steady. Steve Solomon, ARC's chief commercial officer, noted that traveller demand remains strong despite pricing pressures and geopolitical uncertainty. NDC transactions accounted for 20.1% of total ARC-settled transactions in April 2026, up from 19.6% the previous year. The figures are based on sales from 9,893 US retail and corporate travel agency locations.
Scandinavian Airlines has activated Multiple Forms of Payment through Airlines Reporting Corporation's settlement platform, enabling travel agencies to accept more than one payment method in a single transaction for GDS EDIFACT transactions. The feature supports sales, exchanges and refunds, allowing agencies to combine credit and debit cards, cash and other payment forms within one transaction. According to ARC's Head of Offers and Settlement Shelly Younger, the capability improves processing efficiency and gives agencies greater control over transaction structure and reconciliation. MFOP is part of ARC's broader investment to modernise reporting and settlement, designed to support airline retailing models across all channels. ARC processes over $100 billion in US-based agency air sales annually and is working to expand MFOP adoption across the industry.
