Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or an equivalent scientific or technical discipline from an accredited academic institution, or a combination of formal education and experience equivalent to a four-year college degree.
  • At least ten years of work experience as a software developer.
  • At least seven years of experience programming in C, C++, and C#.
Responsibilities
  • Analyze, evaluate, and integrate solutions to complex technical problems based on broad objectives from management and customers, while encouraging optimal designs within customer specifications, quality standards, schedule, and funding limitations.
  • Assist in formulating engineering project requirements to meet customer needs and deadlines.
  • Develop detailed implementation plans to execute and meet project requirements.
  • Determine timelines for completing engineering projects and report project status to the Engineering and Integration Manager, Supervisor, and/or Lead Software Engineer.
  • Work closely with project management, hardware engineering, communications engineering, configuration management, quality assurance, and operations support to integrate software engineering with the other disciplines involved in the project.
  • Design, implement, test, and deploy software projects.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring, direction, and assistance to other engineering team members.
  • Review modifications to system software to ensure compatibility with existing hardware and software.
  • Solicit and document detailed product requirements and write technical data packages supporting software development or modifications.
  • Attend and facilitate meetings as required.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Ability to program in C, C++ and C#.
  • Experience designing Windows and Linux applications and graphical user interfaces.
  • Experience with web applications and services toolsets including Vue.js, React, Java, JavaScript, XML, and ASP.
  • Experience with database development using SQL Server, Oracle, and Access.
  • Experience with open-source software and systems.
  • Knowledge and understanding of formal software development standards and software development processes, including the Software Capability Maturity Model.
  • Ability to deploy and troubleshoot network applications and systems.
  • Ability to perform system administration activities in Windows, Solaris, Unix, and Linux operating system environments.
  • Understanding of network switches and routers.
  • Ability to interact effectively with system users.
  • Ability to analyze data, resolve problems, and make decisions independently.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form.
  • Ability to write and prepare technical and user-oriented reports, manuals, and other written communications.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with people contacted during job performance.
  • Ability to travel as required by the company.
