Cornell University is searching for an enthusiastic and dynamic Assistant Director of Annual Giving to join our College of Arts & Sciences Alumni Affairs and Development team. As the physical and academic center of the Cornell campus, the College of Arts & Sciences plays a pivotal role in shaping the student experience, and we’re looking for a creative partner to help drive its success!
About the position
This is a new and high-impact position created to lead and grow a comprehensive annual fund program, currently raising $5M annually. You will also build connections with key donors, volunteers, and future supporters. Your work will be at the heart of our exciting pipeline-building initiatives, securing the future of A&S’s fundraising success!
What You’ll Do
As the Assistant Director, you’ll:
In collaboration with the Director of Development, plan and execute Arts & Sciences Annual Fund Program which includes a series of Direct Mail pieces, email solicitations, all Giving Day activities and other as needed responsibilities.
Identify and track KPIs to measure success and identify areas for improvement.
Conduct direct outreach to specific individuals to further determine and cultivate their appetite for enhanced philanthropy
Work directly with key volunteers, engaging with those who have not yet made their annual gift and creating lasting, meaningful connections.
Partner with the Director of Alumni Engagement to elevate and expand the Arts & Sciences Career Connections Committee, broadening its scope beyond alumni-student networking to incorporate new philanthropic initiatives that inspire generosity.
Identify and recruit alumni and parent volunteers to host and participate in events aimed at connecting alumni: alumni and students: alumni to enhance their A&S network.
This is your chance to be a pivotal player in not one, but two dynamic areas of A&S Alumni Affairs & Development, annual fund development and alumni engagement. The ideal candidate for this position will have the following.
An understanding of annual fund, pipeline development, and engagement methods.
Comfort in both donor-facing situations and behind-the-scenes planning and execution.
A passion for making a difference, connecting with people, and driving results.
This position is based in Ithaca, NY with hybrid work arrangements, which means 2 or 3 days on campus and the remainder remote from a commutable distance.
