As the VP of Software Engineering you will lead a group of brilliant and high performing individuals and leaders, driving a roadmap that further establishes Markforged at the forefront of Additive Manufacturing. Markforged is already a force in connected web based manufacturing systems with a strong ecosystem of materials, hardware and system level and cloud based software.  Drive the future of distributed manufacturing as it drives velocity, efficiency, and economy for our customers and the world. 

What will you own?

• Lead, manage, and guide the leaders of engineering teams in close partnership with Engineering and Business leaders.
• Manage engineering execution to ensure continuous improvement of our systems.
• Act as the ultimate technical authority for our Software; balancing design, risks, budget, and schedule with product, system engineering, and manufacturing teams.   
• Prioritize and evaluate the work generated by our team in order to ensure effective and on time delivery of our products.
• Design, implement, and monitor all operations and key performance metrics/operational efficiency for the Software team.
• Create structured and concise documentation, including partner-ready presentations, process flows, root cause analyses, status reports, and other materials.
• Acquire deep understanding of Markforged’s business needs. 
• Coach team members to achieve outsize results through career, skill and personal development.
• Provide engineering leadership and mentoring to coordinate design, analysis, and systems engineering processes throughout development, verification, delivery and operation.

What you have:

• 15+ years of software experience with exposure to C-level leaders
• 5+ years leading software development teams 
• Experience leading in hybrid software/hardware company 
• Track record of new software product launches and implementations
• Experience managing a globally distributed team is a nice to have
• We use Apple computers and G-suite collaboration tools. While experience with these tools is not required, the ideal candidate will be excited to broaden their knowledge and embrace change.

**This role is located at our corporate and engineering offices in the Watertown area, and will be full time in Waltham come April. Since we have many engineers who are at our offices 5 days a week working on our ground breaking technology, we expect our leaders to be thoughtful about their presence in the office as well.
