- A minimum of three years of relevant education, including a bachelor's degree or equivalent, after secondary school.
- A minimum of two years of relevant professional experience.
- Good knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures related to Local Area Networks and Wide Area Networks.
- Good knowledge of network configurations.
- Knowledge of Internet Protocol-based Local Area Network and Wide Area Network administration and firewall administration.
- Knowledge of firewall, virtual private network, and load balancer configuration and troubleshooting, including Cisco, Juniper, or F5 products.
- Knowledge of network configuration and troubleshooting, including Domain Name System, virtual local area networks, Internet Protocol routing, Local Area Networks, Wide Area Networks, and site-to-site virtual private networks.
- Ability to understand, write, update, and review documentation and technical specifications related to network infrastructures.
- Ability to understand common network topologies and common cabling technologies and standards, including fiber, copper, and Ethernet.
- Maintain configurations for data networks.
- Install network software and hardware.
- Perform basic troubleshooting of network problems using network analyzers, sniffers, and other troubleshooting tools.
- Develop, update, and review network-related documentation and technical specifications.
- Maintain network monitoring and management systems.
- Monitor network security.
- Network qualifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate or equivalent would be advantageous.
- IT Service Management qualifications such as Information Technology Infrastructure Library, ISO/IEC 20000, or equivalent would be advantageous.
- Experience with Cisco, Juniper, or F5 products would be advantageous.
