Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Graduation from a Medical Assistant program or one year of experience in a clinical setting is required.
  • Basic Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of the hire date.
  • The employee must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly.
  • The employee must be able to bend, stoop, reach, and perform normal rotation, standing, and walking during an 8-12 hour shift.
  • The employee must work closely with others, work protracted or irregular hours, work around biohazards and infectious diseases, work with hands in water, and may need to travel between facilities.
  • The employee must be able to use and care for equipment including printers, embossers, and computers.
  • The employee must be able to communicate effectively with staff and patients, adapt to changing environments, work independently and in a team setting, and organize and prioritize work.
Responsibilities
  • Greet and escort patients to exam rooms and prepare them for physician visits by obtaining initial information and vital signs.
  • Prepare exam rooms for patients, maintaining cleanliness and ensuring supplies are available.
  • Assist with or perform examinations, tests, and procedures.
  • Schedule appointments and arrange referral contacts as needed.
  • Assist the provider during patient examinations and procedures.
  • Educate patients on follow-up expectations.
  • Maintain quality-control testing logs as required.
  • Ensure that medical equipment is in proper working condition.
  • Assist patients with completing medical documentation.
  • Perform office administrative tasks, including answering phones, taking messages, copying, printing, data entry, assisting with cash deposits, and completing other closing duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • Completion of healthcare education coursework.
  • One year of healthcare experience.
