Requirements
  • A high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalence certificate.
  • At least 2 years of leadership experience in moving or logistics operations.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • At least 2 years of driving history in the United States.
  • The ability to pass a drug test, drug screening, and background check.
  • The ability to read, analyze, and interpret common documents.
  • The ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, management, and staff.
  • The ability to present information effectively to management, staff, and customers in written and oral communication.
  • Basic proficiency with personal computer skills, including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, and spreadsheets.
  • The ability to travel 50–70% of the time, with overnight stays potentially necessary.
  • The ability to perform the physical duties of the role, including frequent lifting or moving of up to 100 pounds, carrying furniture, operating moving equipment, and transporting parts and tools.
  • The ability to detect mechanical issues and part defects and determine appropriate action.
  • The ability to exchange accurate information with office and field personnel.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise moving crews by providing direction, coaching, and on-the-job training.
  • Mentor crew leaders and movers and identify and develop potential future leaders.
  • Support recruiting, onboarding, and training of new crew members in collaboration with management.
  • Assist management with scheduling moves, assigning crews, and monitoring job progress.
  • Review plans for efficiency and recommend adjustments to minimize delays and costs.
  • Help oversee vehicle readiness, equipment maintenance schedules, and supply inventory.
  • Conduct informal job performance observations and provide feedback to team members.
  • Assist with performance reviews and improvement plans under management guidance.
  • Document job outcomes, safety incidents, and equipment issues for operational reporting.
  • Plan and coordinate moving assignments, including packing, loading, unloading, and unpacking.
  • Manage packing-supply inventory and ensure equipment is properly utilized during moves.
  • Allocate tasks based on team members' strengths and expertise.
  • Act as the on-site point of contact for customers and resolve concerns professionally.
  • Communicate job status updates, including potential risks or delays, to management.
  • Participate in operational meetings and provide input to improve service quality.
  • Enforce company safety policies and lead pre-job safety briefings.
  • Perform spot checks to ensure quality standards are met in packing, loading, and delivery.
  • Resolve operational challenges in real time and escalate significant issues to management when needed.
  • Assist management with root-cause analysis and develop solutions for recurring issues.
  • Participate in management training sessions and shadow operations managers when possible.
  • Learn to analyze key operational metrics, including key performance indicator performance, costs, and labor efficiency.
  • Support operational projects and other assigned initiatives and duties.
