Requirements
- Must have a general knowledge of carpentry and use of hand and power tools.
- Must learn and understand all safety hazards related to the work and learn to safely and effectively use or operate work-related tools and equipment.
- Must be able to push/pull, lift, or carry up to 50 pounds, with occasional ability to push/pull, lift, or carry up to 100 pounds.
- Must have hand/eye coordination and be able to communicate by hearing, comprehending, and speaking to safely perform work.
- Must be able to perform sedentary to heavy work.
- May operate hand and power tools of all types, including electric, gas, and pneumatic tools, with proper training and authorization.
- Must be able to climb and maintain balance on steel or wood framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
- Must be able to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry, or feel objects frequently.
- Must be able to perform prolonged bending, twisting, walking, crawling, kneeling, reaching overhead, squatting, pushing or pulling, standing, and lifting.
- Must be able to walk on uneven surfaces, muddy conditions, loose rock, and loose or soft sand.
- May be required to work in confined spaces and adverse weather conditions.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with management and supervision, work at various tempos, concentrate amid distractions, make decisions, and observe and remember details.
- Will be required to work in a plant operations or construction jobsite setting.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Carpenter in laying out work.
- Assist the Carpenter with lifting, positioning, securing, and cutting materials during installation.
- Clean work areas, machines, and equipment.
- Ensure that the work area remains stocked with needed materials.
- Assist other craft workers as needed.
- Assist the Carpenter and Carpenter Foreman with designing, constructing, erecting, installing, and repairing structures, fixtures, and other items made of wood, plywood, and wallboard.
