Requirements
- Current RN license in good standing in the State of New York.
- Progressive nursing experience in a geriatric setting.
- Dedication to providing quality, compassionate care to each resident.
- Interest in helping ill, injured, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and challenging residents.
- Patience and willingness to assist residents and coworkers.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, customer service, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure, remain flexible, and work harmoniously with all staff.
Responsibilities
- Organize, oversee, and supervise assigned unit activities and staff assignments while demonstrating clinical expertise consistent with established nursing practice standards.
- Identify and respond appropriately and promptly to patient needs.
- Monitor, observe, and document vital signs, administered treatments, and patient responses.
- Administer medications and treatments as needed.
- Communicate and direct ongoing services, plans, concerns, and information to appropriate team members, residents, families, or medical staff as needed.
- Identify and follow disciplinary action procedures stated in policy.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, physicians, vendors, and other services.
- Perform RN assessments for residents after incidents or changes in condition.
- Lead and direct emergency situations, including fire alarms and elopements.
- Maintain accurate nursing reports, staffing sheets, and census rosters.
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience with geriatric, short-term rehabilitation, or Alzheimer's patients is desirable.
- Supervisory experience is preferred.
