Requirements
  • Completion of an Echosonography program is required.
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider certification from the American Heart Association is required.
  • One of the following cardiac sonography credentials is required: Registered Cardiac Sonographer from Cardiovascular Credentialing International; Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer from Cardiovascular Credentialing International; Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer with Adult Echocardiography specialty from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography; or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer with Pediatric Echocardiography specialty from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
  • No prior experience is required.
  • The position requires constant standing and walking, frequent use of vision, hearing, speech, lifting, pushing, pulling, patient movement, reaching, gripping, and keyboard use, occasional handling of heavier objects and bending or twisting, and rare kneeling and sitting.
Responsibilities
  • Perform appropriate diagnostic procedures, record patient test results, and report results.
  • Monitor patient comfort and safety during tests and alert physicians to abnormalities or changes in patient responses.
  • Maintain adequate supplies and verify that equipment is functioning properly; report deficiencies and failures.
  • Position patients and accurately select anatomic and technical parameters.
  • Ensure that all activities comply with regulatory agency standards.
  • Submit high-quality images and documents promptly to PACS, including accurate image quality, lead markers, and patient data and history.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and orderly department, including procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, film storage areas, and other departmental areas.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
